SSC Stenographer 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Age Requirement (as on 01.08.2023)
(a) Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2023 i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1993 and not later than 01-08-2005 are eligible to apply.
(b) Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2023 i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2005 are eligible to apply.
Educational Requirements
Minimum Education Qualification -: Candidate must have cleared the 12th (HSC) Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Candidates who have not acquired the essential qualification as on 01.08.2020 will not be eligible and need not apply.
Permissible Relaxation In Upper Age Limits
1. For Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe (SC/ST) –
- SC/ST – 5 years
- OBC – 3 years
- PwD (SC/ST) – 15 years
- PwD (OBC) – 13 years
- PwD (Unreserved) – 15 years
- Candidates with domicile in J&K from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989 – 5 years
- Defence Personnel who suffered disability due to hostilities with a foreign nation or in a disturbed area and were relieved of their duties as a result thereof (SC/ST) – 8 years
- Defence Personnel who suffered disability due to hostilities with a foreign nation or in a disturbed area and were relieved of their duties as a result thereof – 3 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM) – 3 years after conduction of military service from the closing date of the application
2. Relaxation in upper age limit for Group C posts only –
- Central Government Civilian Employees who have served for 3 years or more for a continuous and regular period on the last date of the applications (SC/ST) – Up to 45 years of age
- Central Government Civilian Employees who have served for 3 years or more for a continuous and regular period on the last date of the applications – Up to 40 years of age
- Retrenched census employees of Office of Registrar General of India – 3 years plus the length of service rendered by them in connection with census, before retrenchment and weightage of past service 3 years
- Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women Judicially separated and who are not remarried (SC/ST) – Up to 40 years of age
- Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women Judicially separated and who are not remarried – Up to 35 years of age
- Service Clerks in the last year of service in the Armed Forces (SC/ST) – Up to 50 years of age
- Service Clerks in the last year of service in the Armed Forces – Up to 45 years of age
Candidates should be aware that the Commission will only accept the date of birth listed on their matriculation / secondary examination certificate when determining an individual's age eligibility, and no requests for modifications will be considered.
Service that is considered as a service in the Armed Forces is referred to as "call up service."
Ex-servicemen (ESM) who have previously obtained regular work in either Group ‘C' or ‘D' postings after receiving reservation benefits are unable to get a reservation in the ESM category and the requisite price reduction.
SSC Stenographer Eligibility For Ex-Servicemen
The following are the eligibility requirements for ex-servicemen competing in SSC Stenographer 2023:
- Person (including personnel of Territorial Army) who have been discharged after completing the stipulated time of service, or at his own request, or dismissed on grounds of misbehaviour or inefficiency and have been awarded a gratuity (pension holders).
- A person who has served as a Combatant or Non-Combatant in Army, Navy, and Air Force of the India Union.
- Gallantry Award Winners of the Armed Forces
- Person relieved on the medical ground with medical disability pension
- Personnel who had spent more than six months on deputation in the Army Postal Service prior to April 14, 1987.
- Candidates of the Army Postal Service who have served as a part of the Regular Army and retired from the Army Postal Service or are released from Army Postal Service on the medical ground with medical or another disability pension
Candidates who are serving as a Service Clerk in the last year of their military service and are scheduled to be released between September 1, 2020, and August 31, 2021, are eligible for age relaxation. Only jobs at Armed Forces Headquarters and the Inter-Service Organisation will be open to such individuals.
Sons, daughters, and dependents of ex-servicemen will not be eligible for an age reduction.
