Though there are different criteria for each of the posts filled by the SSC CGL exam, the essential eligibility criteria for this exam are as follows.
The candidate must be an Indian citizen or of Indian origin or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee.
The candidate age is needed to be in between 18 and 32 years

The candidate should complete their graduation from a recognised university or institute.
In order to apply and register candidature for the SSC CGL Exam, the candidates should follow the given steps.
Step 1: Go to Staff Selection Commission's official website.
Step 2: Select ‘New User? Register Now.
Step 3: Fill the registration form.
Step 4: Log in to the registered account with the registration number generated during registration and the password set at the same time.
Step 5: Required details must be filled for the application form
Step 6: Upload the scanned documents, including the photograph and signature.
Step 7: Carefully go through the form that you have filled before selecting the Final Submit button to submit it.
Step 8: The application fee of Rs 100 needs to be paid after this; the. The process can be either online or offline.

A payment of Rs 100 has to be made as an application fee by candidates registering to take the SSC CGL exam. Online or offline methods using SBI challan or BHIM, UPI or internet banking, credit card or debit card. However, female candidates and those belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD), and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are exempt from the application fee payment.

Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I i.e. Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)
1.Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature. However, while shortlisting the candidates for the posts where Computer Proficiency is prescribed viz. Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Sciences), Inspector (CGST &Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner) & Executive Assistant in CBIC and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant in Department of Post etc., higher qualifying standards will be set in comparison to other posts.
2.Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I will include conducting of a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) for a duration of 15 minutes in Session-II on the same day.
3.The "Data Entry Speed Test" (DEST) Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration 20 of 15 (fifteen) minutes. Detailed instructions regarding Skill Test will be provided by the Regional Offices of the Commission. Information about evaluation of Typing Test/ DEST are available on the Commission's website https://ssc.nic.in (Candidate's Corner).
4.DEST will be mandatory for all the posts; however, it will be qualifying in nature.
5.While shortlisting the candidates for the posts where either Computer Proficiency is prescribed (as mentioned in the 1st point) or where DEST is prescribed viz. Tax Assistant in CBIC, Tax Assistant in CBDT, and UDC/ SSA in Central Bureau of Narcotics (Ministry of Finance) etc., higher qualifying standards will be set in comparison to other posts.
6.DEST will be conducted in the manner decided by the Commission for the purpose.
7.PwBD-OH candidates are eligible for exemption from attempting DEST, provided such candidates submit a Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-XVI in the notification) to the Commission from the competent Medical Authority, i.e., the Civil Surgeon of a Government Health Care Institution declaring him to be permanently unfit for the Typing Test because of a physical disability. However, such exemption is not available for the posts where either Computer Proficiency is prescribed (as mentioned in the 1st point) or where DEST is prescribed (as mentioned in the 4th point) except for the post of the Tax Assistant in CBDT, for which exemption from attempting DEST is available. All other PwBD candidates are not eligible for exemption from DEST.
PwBD/ PwD candidates who are eligible for scribes as per Para-7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 of the Notice of Examination will be allowed additional compensatory time of 5 (five) minutes in DEST. Only those VH candidates who opt for scribes in the written examination will be provided passage reader at the time of DEST.
Admit Cards for SSC CGL 2023-24 Tier-1 exam will be sent out about one week before the examination. The Admit Card's release will be released on a region-wise basis on the Commission's Regional websites. Admit cards should be downloaded for the SSC CGL examination from their respective region's websites. Their details are needed to input such as Name, Exam, Registration Number, Date of Birth, City, etc. The SSC CGL Tier-I examination 2021 was scheduled was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new dates will be announced shortly.
