SSC CGL 2023 Eligibility Criteria: It is always a good idea for the candidates to know about the SSC CGL 2023 eligibility criteria before appearing for the SSC CGL examination. This section deals with the SSC CGL 2023 eligibility criteria such as age, educational qualification, and nationality for the candidates who are interested in appearing for the SSC CGL 2023 exam.

SSC CGL 2023 Eligibility Criteria

SSC CGL eligibility criteria are based on three parameters: age, educational qualification and nationality.

Age limit (As on 01-08-2023)

The candidate's age is needed to be in between 18 and 32 years. Relaxation in age is applicable for the candidates coming under specific categories. The details are as follows:

Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  1. a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal, or
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or
  4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification required for the various post is as follows:

Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer

  1. Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
  2. Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
  3. During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the "Subordinate Audit/ Accounts ServiceExamination" in respective branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant AuditOfficer/Assistant Accounts Officer.

Junior Statistical Officer

  1. Bachelor's Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level;
    Or
    Bachelor's Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
  2. Statistical Investigator Grade-II:
  3. Bachelor's Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have studied Statistics as a subject in all three years or all the 6 semesters of the graduation course.

Assistant in National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)

  1. Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
  2. Desirable Qualifications: Degree in law from a recognized university.

Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

  1. Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
  2. Desirable Qualifications:
  3. Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution;
  4. Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.

All other Posts:

  1. Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
  2. The candidates must possess Essential qualification on or before the closing date for receipt of online applications i.e. 23-01-2022.
  3. As per the Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification dated 10-06-2015 published in the Gazette of India all the degrees/ diplomas/ certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government provided they have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission. Accordingly, unless such degrees are recognized for the relevant period when the candidates acquired the qualification, they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification.
  4. As per UGC (Open and Distance Learning)Regulations, 2017 published in official Gazette on 23-06-2017, under Part-III (8) (v), the programmes in engineering, medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, architecture and physiotherapy etc. are not permitted to be offered under Open and Distance Learning mode. However, pursuant to the Hon'ble Supreme Court Order dated 11-03-2019 in MA No. 3092/2018 in W.P. (C) No. 382/2018 titled Mukul Kumar Sharma & others Vs AICTE and others, B. Tech. degree/diploma in Engineering awarded by IGNOU to the students who were enrolled up to academic year 2009-10 shall be treated as valid, wherever applicable.
  5. All the candidates who are called for documents verification will be required to produce the relevant Certificates such as Mark sheets for all the three years of Graduation/ Provisional Certificate/ Degree of Graduation in original as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before the stipulated date, failing which the candidature of such candidates will be cancelled by the Commission. The candidates who are able to prove,by documentary evidence, that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cut-off date and he has been declared passed, will also be considered to meet the educational qualification.
