RRB ALP National Criteria
- A candidate must be either:
(i) a citizen of India, or
(ii) a citizen of Nepal, or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before 01.01. 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
(vi) Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above, shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
- A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination provisionally. However, the Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India has to be submitted during Document Verification failing which his/her candidature shall be rejected.
Steps to Fill Out the RRB ALP Online Form 2024
- Go to the official website of the respective Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) where you wish to apply for the ALP position.
- Look for the "ALP Recruitment" or "Assistant Loco Pilot" section on the homepage of the RRB website.

- Only ONLINE fee payment through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI will be accepted. All applicable service charges shall be borne by the candidate.
- Fee can be paid by the candidates through ONLINE mode only. There will be no option to pay fees through any other mode.
- Applications received without the prescribed fee shall not be considered and summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection will be entertained.

RRB ALP 2024 Admit Card
Candidates whose applications will be successfully submitted will receive the RRB ALP 2024 Admit Card approximately 5 days before the exam date. Additionally, RRB will inform the candidates about the location of their exam city approximately 10 days before the exam date through city information facilities. Furthermore, candidates will receive this information through registered SMS and email.
How to Download RRB ALP 2024 Admit Card
- Go to the official website of the respective Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) for which you have applied for the ALP exam.
- Look for the "Admit Card" or "Download Hall Ticket" section on the homepage of the RRB website.
- Enter your login credentials, such as registration number, date of birth, and password, as required. Ensure that the details entered are accurate.
- Some websites may require you to verify a captcha for security purposes. Enter the characters displayed in the captcha accurately.
- After entering the necessary details, click on the "Download Admit Card" or "Submit" button. This will generate your RRB ALP Admit Card.
- Once the admit card is displayed, carefully review all the details such as your name, photograph, exam date, time, venue, and other relevant information. Ensure that the information is accurate.
- Click on the download button to save the admit card to your device. It is recommended to save a copy in PDF format, and you may also take a printout for future reference.

RRB ALP 2024 Selection Process
- A candidate can apply to only one RRB, and only ONE ONLINE application has to be submitted
- The recruitment process shall comprise of the following stages:
- First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
- Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification (DV)and
- Medical Examination (ME)
(c) Information on the examination schedule and venues will be given in due course through official RRB websites, SMS and email.
(d) Request for postponement of any of the stages or for change of venue, date and shift will not be entertained under any circumstances.
RRB ALP 2024 Exam Pattern
The RRB ALP 2024 selection process will consist of 4 rounds of exams which are CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT and Document Verification. The exam patterns CBT 1, CBT 2 and CBAT are discussed below along with the detailed syllabus.
RRB ALP 2024 Exam Pattern for CBT 1
- CBT-1 will only be a screening exam for shortlisting eligible candidates for CBT-2 based on their normalized marks and merit.
- The marks of CBT-1 shall not be counted while preparing the final panel.
- Candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST who are shortlisted for CBT-2 by availing relaxed standards of age shall continue to be treated as candidates of their respective reserved communities only for all subsequent stages of this recruitment process.
- Pattern & syllabus of CBT-1:
- The CBT 1 Exam Time Duration 60 minutes
- Number of questions: 75, Maximum marks: 75 (@1 mark per question)There shall be negative marking @1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
- Normalization of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- The minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS - 40%, OBC (NCL)- 30%, SC - 30%, ST - 25%.

- CBT-2 shall comprise of two parts viz., Part-A and Part-Bas detailed below.
- Total Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes &Total Questions: 175
- Part-A: 90 minutes &100 questions
- Part-B: 60 minutes &75 questions
- There shall be negative marking@1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
- Normalization of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- In Part -A, Minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR &EWS -40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC - 30%, ST - 25%.
- Only the marks scored in Part-A shall be counted for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of this recruitment process provided the candidate irrespective of community is able to secure qualifying marks (35%) in Part-B.

RRB ALP 2024 Computer Based Aptitude Test {CBAT)
- Candidates equal to 8 (eight) times the number of ALP vacancies for each notified community/ category viz., UR, OBC(NCL), SC, ST and EWS (including ExSM), shall be shortlisted for CBAT based on their marks in Part-A of CBT-2 and application of reservation rules, provided they qualify in Part-B of CBT-2.
- Such shortlisted candidates should produce their Vision Certificate in the prescribed format (as per Annexure-VI) in original, during the CBAT, failing which they will not be permitted to appear.
- It is mandatory to clear each test battery/section of CBAT separately, to qualify.
- The CBAT shall be only in English and Hindi and there shall be no negative marking.

- Qualifying Marks: All candidates (irrespective of the community) must secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each test battery separately to qualify for the CBAT.
- The merit list will be prepared only from amongst candidates qualifying in the CBAT. 70%weightage will be given for marks obtained in Part-A of CBT-2 and 30%weightage for scores obtained in the CBAT.
RRB ALP 2024 Document Verification {DV)
- Based on the marks and merit of candidates in Part-A of CBT-2, qualifying in Part-B of CBT-2 and scores in CBAT, candidates equal to the number of vacancies, will be shortlisted for Document Verification.
- In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e., the older candidate shall be given higher merit than the younger candidate.
- Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration and final verification of all essential documents and verification of antecedents/ character of the candidates.
- Candidates may please note that RRBs only recommend names of empaneled candidates to the Railway Zone concerned. The offer of appointment is issued only by the respective Railway Zones.
- In case of any shortfall in empanelment or other exigencies, RRBs reserve the right to utilize the candidates down in the merit list if required, as per merit and options of such candidates. This, however, will not confer any vested right on such candidates to be considered for appointment.

RRB ALP 2024 Salary
As per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay scale, the starting salary for an Assistant Loco Pilot ranges from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 35,000 per month. However, this amount may vary based on factors such as the place of posting and additional allowances. Selected candidates will be placed in Level 2 of the Pay Matrix, with an initial pay scale of INR 19,900, along with other allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Travel Allowance (TA), among others.
