2. Modification to the Transfer Policy: 5-Year Clause Added

A notable change in the SBI Clerk 2026 notification concerns Inter-Circle and Inter-State transfers.

2025 Rule: The previous recruitment notification stated that there was no provision for Inter-Circle or Inter-State transfer for newly recruited Junior Associates.

2026 Change: SBI now specifically states that there is no provision for Inter-Circle/Inter-State transfer before completion of five years of service. However, after completing five years, transfer requests can be considered in exceptional cases such as Extreme Compassionate Ground or Spouse Ground.

Such a transfer is not automatic. SBI will consider it at its sole discretion and according to the transfer policy or instructions applicable at that time.

2025: No normal Inter-Circle/Inter-State transfer provision.

2026: Transfer requests may be considered after five years, but only under specified exceptional circumstances and subject to SBI approval.

3. Backlog Vacancy Clarification Added in 2026

The SC/ST/OBC backlog vacancies mentioned in the notification are net of vacancies already advertised under the SBI Clerk Special Recruitment Drive 2026.
