What is RBI Grade B?

The RBI Grade B exam is conducted every year by the Reserve Bank of India — India's central bank — to recruit Officers at the managerial level. Getting selected as an RBI Grade B Officer means you will be working at the institution that controls India's monetary policy, regulates the banking system, and manages the country's foreign exchange reserves.

It is one of the most respected government jobs in India, not just for the salary, but for the quality of work, career growth, and the kind of impact you can make in India's economic system. Every year, lakhs of graduates compete for a few hundred posts — making it one of the toughest banking exams in the country.

There are three streams under RBI Grade B recruitment:

  • General (DR): Open to graduates from any discipline. Largest number of vacancies.
  • DEPR: Department of Economic and Policy Research — requires a Master's degree in Economics.

How Mock Tests Help You Clear RBI Grade B

1. You Discover What You Have Not Studied Yet

The RBI Grade B syllabus — especially Phase 2 — is one of the largest among all banking exams. Even if you think your preparation is complete, mock tests regularly surface topics you have not covered. Each test is a discovery session.

2. You Build Real Time Management Skills

Phase 1 has sectional timing — you cannot move to the next section early or go back to a previous one. Managing 80 General Awareness questions in 25 minutes, and 60 Reasoning questions in 45 minutes, is a skill that only comes from repeated practice. Mock tests train this directly.

3. You Reduce Exam Fear Significantly

Walking into the RBI Grade B exam after attempting 10+ full Phase 1 mocks is a completely different experience from walking in after only reading. By exam day, the interface, pressure, timer, and question types are all familiar. Anxiety drops sharply.

4. You Track Real Improvement Over Time

Every mock gives you a score and report. Comparing your Mock 3 report with Mock 8 shows you concrete improvement or highlights a section that has stagnated. Without mock tests, you have no way to measure how ready you actually are.

5. You Learn to Pick the Right Questions

In Phase 1, you cannot solve every question. You must identify which questions to attempt first and which to skip. With repeated mock tests, this becomes instinctive — a skill that directly improves your final score without any additional studying.

Preparing for the Descriptive Paper (Phase 2 — Paper 2)

The English Writing Skills paper is the section where most candidates lose significant marks. You are required to write structured essays, precis, and letters on economic, financial, and social topics — entirely typed on a keyboard in 90 minutes.

PracticeMock's descriptive preparation covers:

  • 5 ESI Descriptive Mock Tests and 5 FM Descriptive Mock Tests — with model answers for every question.
  • Expert review of your submitted answers with written feedback on structure, language, and content depth.
  • PDF fodder material covering popular essay and precis topics — economic surveys, RBI policies, financial inclusion, etc.
  • Personalised doubt-clearing sessions on Telegram with subject experts.

Note: Do not wait until Phase 2 to start descriptive practice. Start essay writing from Week 1 of your preparation. Writing quality improves only with consistent, reviewed practice over weeks — not in the 3–4 days between Phase 1 result and Phase 2 exam.
