‘I never gave up.’ says Soundarriya M; Cleared IBPS PO

Never giving up is an attitude that is extremely important to clear competitive exams. The success story which we are publishing today is of Soundarriya M who had to struggle a lot while doing her preparation. In the below success story, she reveals her strategies categorically for different sections. Mainly Soundarriya attributes her success to her self-belief and dedicated preparation. This all happened amidst a lot of obstacles which included even her parents’ discouragement. But she didn’t give up and continued putting in all her efforts and the result is in front of you. She got selected in IBPS PO and was allotted Canara Bank. Let’s read what she has to say about clearing competitive exams.

PM: Congrats on your success! Please brief us on when did you start preparing for the competitive exams and how was your preparation journey.

Soundarriya: Thanks! I have started my preparation in June 2018. It took nearly 3 years for my success. And this journey is not so easy. When I started my preparation there was no one to guide me. I had cleared prelims after 2 to 3 attempts. But I failed in every mains. I am weak in general awareness and I have no idea how to get good marks in GA section as well as in other section in mains. Then I started to read and listen success as well as many failure stories and I analyse the mistakes done by many fellow aspirants in their preparation time. Many people discouraged me even my parents. But I always believed in myself. I analyse my mistakes and I started improving myself in each and every exam. Started giving mains mock tests and analyse it regularly.

PM: Which exams did you appear in till date and what were their results?

Soundarriya: I have appeared in nearly 30+ exams. Attended RRB PO interview but can’t get the final allotment. Finally, I had cleared IBPS PO-X

PM: How did you prepare for the English section?

Soundarriya: I am weak in English. But I want to improve my mark so I started reading Hindu newspaper daily which helps me to read and understand faster in exams even in other sections also. Mocks help me to identify my mistakes in English.

PM: How did you prepare for the Quantitative Aptitude section?

Soundarriya: For prelims:

Mock test is the key. I have memorised the squares up to 50 and cubes up to 20. which really helps me to save my time. Without application topics, we can clear prelims. Speed and accuracy matter.

For mains:

Concept is the key to crack quants in mains. We have to understand the application topic first. Memorising the formulas and shortcut didn’t help in mains. In every topic, I have solved at least 100 sums to know the concept clearly. I have followed many YouTube channels to understand the concept clearly.

Daily Quantitative Aptitude | Reasoning | English | Current Affairs Quizzes for Banking & Government Exams

PM: How did you prepare for the Reasoning section?

Soundarriya: For prelims:

Puzzles are very much important. I have practised it a lot. We have to do the puzzle with minimum possibility.

For mains:

We need to solve puzzles at last (It consumes much time and sometimes we get stuck). Application topics like alphanumeric, coding-decoding, etc. every topic I have solved many questions from PDFs.

PM: How did you prepare for the General Awareness section?

Soundarriya: When I started my preparation I started writing daily and took notes daily. But I didn’t revise it regularly which is the major mistake done by many aspirants. Then I started following Ashish Gautam sir YouTube videos for GA and affairs cloud. And I used to revise by taking many quizzes on different websites and Telegram channel bot quizzes helped me a lot. In PO I got 31.5/40.

PM: Did you face any hurdle as well? How did you overcome it?

Soundarriya: As a female, I have handled much pressure. I never gave up. I said to myself that whatever happens, I have to do it. I have to prove to many people who said that it is impossible and you are wasting your time. When you get success that’s the best answer. When you give up, your efforts and struggle will go in vain.

PM: How did PracticeMock help you?

Soundarriya: Mock test is the most important one to crack the exam. PM mock tests’ questions were similar to the exam level. Especially the sectional test in mains really helped me to improve my marks. Puzzles are really up to the exam level.

PM: What’s your message for the fellow aspirants who are preparing for competitive exams?

Soundarriya: Whatever happens don’t stop your preparation. You have to go through a number of struggles and too much pressure during your preparation days. but you have to overcome all of those things to get success. Do your work daily. Your day will come soon. Even a very small improvement matters. There is no need to be a very knowledgeable person to crack this exam. You have to work hard and smart to crack this exam. Analyse your mistake and overcome it.

This was Soundarriya’s success story. Remember: Like Soundarriya, you can also clear competitive exams. Read other success stories and incorporate their strategies in your preparation. One thing which is common in all of these success stories is the importance that has been attributed to mock tests. So what are you waiting for? Start taking mock tests now.
