Akshit Garg’s Success Story

Hi, my name is Akshit Garg. I am from Bhatinda, Punjab. I completed my graduation in Nov 2020. After that i started preparing for banking exams. I appeared in IBPS PO 2020( to be honest, i was lucky because on 4th november i completed my graduation and last date to apply IBPS was 6th november). I cleared prelims with flying colours and appeared in mains. I gave mains exam without much preparation and cleared it but gap between cutoff and my marks was only 7 marks. My interview went well but i couldn’t make it to the final list. Then I restarted my preparation after 2 month break when SBI Clerk exam notification was released. Now I am finally selected after 1 year of sheer hard work. I am looking forward to NIACL MAINS and other PO examinations.

English Section Preparation Strategy

When I started preparing for the exams, this was my weakest section (still weak, pardon for any grammatical errors) but i worked hard on it. I started reading The Hindu newspaper and read some novels. After that I practiced sectional mock tests from various websites including PracticeMock.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

This is my strength. I am from Non Medical background and Maths was my favorite subject from Day 1. I just practiced exam relevant material.

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

“Practice practice practice” is the only mantra I followed. Don’t skip miscellaneous topics like Blood Relation, Coding decoding, Input output for mains exam.

General Awareness Section Preparation Strategy

GA is unpredictable. SBI Clerk Shift 2 GA was a nightmare for all candidates. I don’t know from where they are asking such questions. Like Thomas Bach(IOC president) won medal in 1976 in which game, neeraj chopra javelin weight. So I would suggest you need to change your method of studying. Simply one liners are no more useful.

Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced

I didn’t follow any fixed schedule but was regular in my studies. Consistency is the key. English was my weakness and I started reading newspaper. It worked for me.
