The Skill Test is a practical test that assesses the candidates’ stenography skills. The candidates have to transcribe a dictated passage in English or Hindi on a computer within a given time limit. The speed of dictation is 100 words per minute (wpm) for Grade C posts and 80 wpm for Grade D posts. The transcription time is 50 minutes for English and 65 minutes for Hindi.

General Awareness: This section tests the candidates’ general knowledge and awareness of current affairs. It includes topics such as India and its neighboring countries, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity and scientific research etc.
English Language and Comprehension: This section tests the candidates’ understanding and knowledge of English language. It includes topics such as vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, comprehension etc.
