SSC MTS 2024 Paper 1 Most Scoring Topics For English: The SSC MTS exam will be conducted from 30th September to 14th November 2024. 1. Comprehension Passage

In the comprehension passage, the SSC presents a passage (a portion or a part of a long written work) and asks questions related to the passage. Candidates can expect at least 5 questions on this topic. It is the best chance to gain a good mark in the English section.

Tip: Focus on reading and understand the passage in a one-time reading. Candidates are advised to read the questions first and then read the passage. It will help you to save time.

2. Spotting the Error

Spotting the error is considered one of the easiest topics. It is a method of identifying the errors and correcting the grammatical mistakes in a sentence or paragraph.

Tip: Usually one can solve it easily by reading the sentence in a flow. So, read the sentence carefully and mark the error. Candidates are advised to focus on grammar carefully. Practice questions related to this topic will help them to spot the error very easily.

3. Improvement of Sentences

In this topic, the SSC will present the sentence with some errors. Candidates are required to make the sentence in the correct tense which requires some grammatical changes.

Tip: Candidates are advised to use independent clauses, conjunctions, and active voice. They must be aware of grammatical rules. Sometimes a sentence looks grammatically correct and error-free so check that sentence very carefully.

4. Idioms and Phrases

Idioms can be explained as an expression that means something different from the actual words.

Phrases are a group of words that work together in a sentence but don’t have a subject or verb.

Tip: Candidates are advised to use the sticky notes and paste them in front of the study table. They must make a habit of learning new Idioms and Phrases and try to revise them daily.

5. Synonyms and Antonyms

A synonym is a word that has a similar meaning to another word. Ex: Small and Tiny,

An antonym is a word that has an opposite meaning to another word. Ex: Good and Bad.

Tip: Try to learn daily at least 10 synonyms and antonyms. If you find any words while learning synonyms and antonyms that are tough and you don’t meaning of that word put the dictionary and find the meaning of that word and write it down somewhere you can revise it later. candidates can expect at least 2-3 questions related to synonyms and antonyms in the SSC MTS exam.
