SSC MTS 2023 Exam-Subject wise tips for 13th to 20th June 2023

The exam has two papers: Paper-I (Objective Type) and Paper-II (Descriptive Type). Paper-I has four sections that will test your brain power, number crunching, language skills and general awareness. Paper-II will test your writing skills in English or any other language of your choice.

To ace the SSC MTS 2023 exam, you need to have a smart strategy and plan for each section of the exam. Here are some tips that will help you shine in each subject.

Part-1

1. General Intelligence and Reasoning:

  1. This section will test your brainpower to reason and solve problems. It will measure your mental ability to deduce and evaluate logically. It will have questions on topics like analogies, classification, coding-decoding, series, syllogism, blood relations, direction sense, ranking, puzzles, non-verbal reasoning, etc.
  2. To prepare for this section, you should practice a lot of questions from previous years’ papers, mock tests, and online quizzes. You should also understand the basic concepts and shortcuts of each topic.
  3. You should start with this section in the exam as it is easy and quick to solve. You should aim to solve each question within 30 seconds and avoid guessing.

2. Numerical Aptitude:

  1. This section will check how well you can do calculations and apply mathematical concepts. It will have questions on topics like number system, simplification, arithmetic operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time and distance, mensuration, geometry, etc.
  2. To prepare for this section, you should revise the formulas and concepts of each topic and practice a lot of questions from previous years’ papers, mock tests, and online quizzes. You should also learn the tricks and shortcuts to solve questions faster and more accurately.
  3. Don’t rush into this section until you finish General Intelligence and Reasoning. It’s a brain-drainer and a time-eater. You should aim to solve each question within one minute and avoid making silly mistakes.

3. General English:

  1. This section will check your knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. It will have questions on topics like error detection, fill-in-the-blanks, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, sentence improvement, voice and narration, cloze test, reading comprehension, etc.
  2. To prepare for this section, you should read a lot of newspapers, magazines, and books to improve your vocabulary and comprehension skills. You should also learn the rules of grammar and usage of each topic and practice a lot of questions from previous years’ papers, mock tests, and online quizzes.
  3. Tackle this part right after Numerical Aptitude. It’s fast and fairly simple. You should aim to solve each question within 30 seconds and avoid making grammatical errors.

4. General Awareness:

  1. This section will check your knowledge of current affairs and general knowledge. It will have questions on topics like history, geography, polity, economy, science and technology, sports, awards and honors, etc.
  2. To prepare for this section, you should read a lot of newspapers, magazines, and online sources to keep yourself updated with the latest happenings around the world. Brush up on static GK from NCERT or other trustworthy sources.
  3. You should do this section last in the exam as it is relatively difficult and time-consuming. You should aim to solve each question within one minute and avoid guessing.

Paper-II

  • This paper will check your writing skills in English or any other language of your choice. You will have to write a short essay or letter on a given topic.
