Building Materials: This subject deals with the properties and uses of various materials used in construction, such as cement, concrete, steel, timber, bricks, stones, etc. The most important topics in this subject are cement, concrete, and steel. You can expect around 10-12 questions from this subject in Paper-I and one question in Paper-II.
Surveying: This subject teaches you the principles and methods of measuring distances, angles, elevations, areas, and volumes of land or structures. The most important topics in this subject are chain surveying, compass surveying, leveling, contouring, plane table surveying, and theodolite surveying. You can expect around 8-10 questions from this subject in Paper-I and one question in Paper-II.
Soil Mechanics: This subject explains the properties and behavior of soils under various loading and environmental conditions. The most important topics in this subject are soil classification, soil compaction, permeability and seepage, shear strength, consolidation, and bearing capacity. You can expect around 10-12 questions from this subject in Paper-I and one question in Paper-II.
Hydraulics: This subject explores the flow of fluids through pipes, channels, and other hydraulic structures. The most important topics in this subject are fluid properties, fluid pressure and forces, flow measurement devices, pipe flow, open channel flow, and hydraulic machines. You can expect around 10-12 questions from this subject in Paper-I and one question in Paper-II.
Irrigation Engineering: This subject covers the design and management of irrigation systems for agriculture and other purposes. The most important topics in this subject are irrigation methods, water requirement of crops, canal irrigation, water logging and drainage, dams and spillways, and hydroelectric power. You can expect around 8-10 questions from this subject in Paper-I and one question in Paper-II.
Estimating, Costing and Valuation: This subject covers topics like estimate, glossary of technical terms, analysis of rates, methods and unit of measurement, Items of work – earthwork, Brick work (Modular & Traditional bricks), RCC work, Shuttering, Timber work, Painting, Flooring, Plastering. Plus Valuation – Value and cost, scrap
value, salvage value, assessed value, sinking fund, depreciation and obsolescence, methods of valuation. The most important topics in this subject are Estimate of building, Specification and tenders, and Valuation. You can expect around 6-8 questions.
