SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Tier 2

Tier 1 qualifiers can take Tier 2. Tier 2 has changed a lot: it’s now objective, not descriptive. It has two sessions with different sections and modules. You need to know them well to ace the exam.

• Session 1 has two modules each in sections 1 and 2, and one module in section 3. You’ll face 135 questions worth 3 marks each, with a penalty of 1 mark for wrong answers.
• You get one hour for each section and 15 minutes for section 3 of session 1.
• Session 2 has Section 3: Skill test/typing test for DEO, LDC, and JSA posts.
• You must clear each section of Tier 2 to get your dream job.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 2023-40 days Preparation Strategy for Success

You’ve cleared the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam. Congrats! You’re closer to your dream job. But don’t relax yet. The Tier 2 exam is tough. It’s a descriptive paper that checks your writing skills in English or Hindi. You need to write an essay (200-250 words) and a letter or application (150-200 words) on given topics. The paper is worth 100 marks and you need at least 33% to pass.

The SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam will be in August 2023. That means you have only 40 days to prepare. How can you nail it? Follow these tips and strategies:

1. Know the syllabus and exam pattern. The first step is to know what to expect in the exam. The syllabus covers topics like current affairs, social issues, economy, sports, culture, science, and technology, etc
2. You’ll have to deal with the questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, Statistics and probability in Module-I of Session-I. Boost your speed and accuracy by practicing questions from past papers, mock tests and online quizzes. Master the concepts, formulas and shortcuts of each topic and apply them smartly. Sharpen your calculation and mental math skills to save time and avoid errors. Manage your time well and attempt questions by priority and confidence. Beware of the negative marking and don’t guess.
3. Master Module-I of Section-II (English Language and Comprehension) by reading English stuff like English newspapers, novels, and articles daily. Brush up grammar basics and tricky parts. Skill test for the post of Data Entry Operator:

In this test, a candidate should have a data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour. The duration of the Test is 15 minutes and an English document having about 2000-2200 strokes/key depressions is given to type.

Skill test for the post of DEO in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG):

The test will measure the speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour based on the accuracy of typing a given passage in English. The test will last for 15 minutes and each candidate will have to type about 3700-4000 key depressions on the computer.

Skill test for the post of Lower Division Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDS/JSA) and Postal Assistants/ Sorting Assistants (PA/SA):

The test will measure the speed of 10,500 key depressions per hour based on the accuracy of typing a given passage in English. The test will last for 15 minutes and each candidate will have to type about 9000 key depressions on a computer.

Note: Key depressions in typing are how many times you tap the keys on your keyboard within a certain period. They show how fast and accurate you can type. Every word counts as five key depressions. For instance, if you type 2000 key depressions in 15 minutes, your typing speed is 2000/5 = 400 words per hour.
