SSC CGL Selection Process 2024
Candidates aiming for SSC CGL 2024 have to clear the two parts of the exam called Tier 1 and Tier 2 stages. The Tier 1 is the first stage to complete. Tier 2 comes after Tier 1 and is also necessary. To get selected, Candidates must succeed in both stages. The final selection involves a special called normalization. Normalizing makes the scores from both stages of the exam fair to compare. Thus, the best-scoring candidates are chosen after the normalizing process.

SSC revised the selection process revised the selection process two years ago. The exam will be conducted as a two-tier exam now to shortlist candidates for various Group B and C posts under the SSC CGL Notification 2024. - The SSC CGL Tier-I is first step of the exam. Then, SSC CGL Tier-II takes the center stage, after the Tier 1 exam. Both are conducted as Computer Based Exams. SSC CGL Selection Process goes via Tier II exam. It contains Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III. Each exam Paper is conducted in separate shifts or days.
- Paper-I is compulsory for all applicants.
- Paper-II is made for those candidates who want to compete for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
- The schedule of Paper I is divided into two sessions: Session–I & Session II. Both sessions take place on the same day. Session-I involves Section-I, Section-II, and Module I of Section III. It has a total duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Session II is somewhat shorter, lasting only 15 minutes. Session II covers Module II of Section III.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 for Stage 1
- Candidates get shortlisted based on the marks they score in SSC CGL Tier-1 exam.
- There’s a Category-wise shortlisting for Tier-II Exam.
- There are different cut-offs for different posts for Tier-II papers.
- Tier 1 exam has 100 questions. Each question carries 2 marks.
- The Total marks for Tier 1 exam are 200.
- English, general awareness, reasoning, and quantitative aptitude are the subjects included in the exam.
- Candidates who clear the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be liable to participate in SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.
SSC CGL Selection Process 2024: Tier 2/Stage 2
- There are 3 papers in Tier 2 exam in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.
- Paper-I is compulsory for all the candidates, whereas Papers II and III are given for specific posts.
- Shortlisting for Paper-I Section-III is based on candidates’ performance.
- Section-III is qualifying with Computer Knowledge and DEST modules.
- English and Hindi options are available, except for English comprehension.
- SSC Tier 2 Paper-I is required for all posts. Candidates have to clear Sections I and II to appear in Section III. Therefore, Candidates who fail to qualify in Sections I and II cannot proceed further.
- Qualified candidates, in Sections I & II, have to take the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).
- Paper-I is for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) shortlisted applicants, and Paper-III is for selected Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer candidates.
- Only those candidates who apply for and get shortlisted for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) jobs in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation can appear in Paper II.
- -Candidates who clear the Tier-I exam and get selected for the positions of Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer, can appear in Paper-III of SSC CGL 2024 exam. These candidates will get selected for these positions/posts.
SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 – Stage 3 (Document Verification)
- Candidates who qualify for Stages 1 and 2 of the SSC CGL exams must go through document verification.
- Submission of original and photocopies of documents is mandatory for this process.
- Required documents include photographs, ID proof, educational certificates, caste/category certificates, etc.
- Identity proof options include Aadhar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, etc.
