The rank of officers selected through the SSC CGL exam depends on the post and the department for which they are selected.

The Number of Vacancies over the Past 10 Years

The reason why the SSC CGL exam is so popular is it offers a wide range of job opportunities in various fields such as finance, administration, law enforcement, and statistics, among others. Aside from that, the sheer number of posts is incredibly appealing to ‌aspirants. It mitigates competition that again heralds an ‌achievable goal. To cite an example, this year the number of vacancies is just about 7500. The minimum number of vacancies for SSC CGL during the last decade was more than 4000.

When it comes to the rank and pay scale of officers selected through the SSC CGL exam, it varies depending on the post and the department for which they are selected. For example, candidates selected for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) are considered to be at the Group “B” Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) level and have a pay scale of Level 8 i.e., Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. Similarly, candidates selected for the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) are considered to be at the Group “B” Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) level and have a pay scale of Level 7 i.e., Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400.

On the other hand, candidates selected for posts such as Auditor, Accountant, Tax Assistant, and Upper Division Clerk (UDC) are considered to be at the Group “C” Non-Gazetted Non-Ministerial level and have a pay scale of Level 4 which is Rs. 25,500 – 81,100.
