The rank and pay scale of officers selected through the SSC CGL exam varies depending on the post and the department for which they are selected.

Eligibility for The Examinations.

Age

Age limit varies according to different posts. The minimum age limit is between 18-20 and the maximum age limit is between 27 to 32. There’s age relaxation as per guidelines.

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Essential Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
    • For Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer:
      • Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
      • Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
  • For Junior Statistical Officer:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; Or,
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level
  • For Statistical Investigator Grade-II:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have studied Statistics as a subject in all the three years or all the 6 semesters of the graduation course.
  • For Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC):
    • Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
    • Desirable Qualifications: Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution;
    • Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.

The rank of SSC CGL Officers

The rank of officers selected through the SSC CGL exam depends on the post and the department for which they are selected.

For example, candidates selected for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) are considered to be at the Group “B” Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) level and have a pay scale of Level 8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. Similarly, candidates selected for the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) are considered to be at the Group “B” Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) level and have a pay scale of Level 7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.

On the other hand, candidates selected for posts such as Auditor, Accountant, Tax Assistant, and Upper Division Clerk (UDC) are considered to be at the Group “C” Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) level and have a pay scale of Level 4 (Rs. 25,500 – 81,100) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
