Errors in Prepositions – Prepositions seems easy, however it can be extremely tricky and confusing at times. Prepositions are in, on, under, up etc…There are two rules for using preposition:

  • First rule says that few prepositions are to be used in order to make the relationships between words in a sentence clear.
  • Second rule says that these words must be followed by nouns.

Error in Adjectives – Placing the correct adjective at the right place can be tricky at times, but is important. Candidates must have a sound knowledge about proper usage of adjectives.

  • Adverbs and adjectives are both different and should not be confused with each other. Adjective describes the characteristic of the subject; however, an adverb describes the action of the verb.
  • Parts of speech including noun, pronouns, adjectives, prepositions, conjunction, articles etc are to be studied thoroughly. One must have a sound knowledge and understanding of these as each part of speech has a different rule.
  • Rules of Tenses along with the rules of parts of speech are enough to for error spotting.
  • Errors to be checked in the use of conjunctions. One sentence only uses one conjunction at a time. Using both so and as in the same sentence is incorrect.
  • Much and many are used differently. Much is used for uncountable nouns and many is used before countable nouns.
  • Moreover, in order to solve spotting error questions a sentence should be read very carefully and if done properly you will be able to spot the error.
  • Errors can be spotted in spellings too, thus you need to check the spellings thoroughly.
  • If you are not able to detect the error, then read each part of the sentence individually and closely check each part for errors if any.
