General Intelligence & Reasoning is a topic which if properly revised, can get you a good score. Let’s get started with the tips.

SSC CGL 2023 Tier I- 10 Reasoning Revision Tips

  1. Know the exam pattern & syllabus of the reasoning section. This is the very basic step. Missing anything over here can be deadly to your preparation. Ensure that you revise the concept and questions of each and every topic.
  2. This section only tests your thinking & analytical ability and presence of mind. Remember: the given question can be solved by the data in the question itself. There is no need to presume any information other than what is given in the question.
  3. Exposure to different types of questions on different topics is very important. Please keep in mind that SSC CGL Tier I is a test of speed. The more questions you solve (and take time to review your performance), the better your performance will be in the actual exam. Solve topic tests on the PracticeMock App.
  4. Use Mock Tests for a systematic and fruitful revision. When you take Mock Tests in a controlled environment, you will face similar questions (which were asked in previous exams) in an exam-like environment. Reviewing the questions which you answered incorrectly/skipped will definitely help you improve your performance.
  5. Be extra careful with words having negative prefixes, such as non-, un-. These words can trick you into answering the question incorrectly.
  6. Try to eliminate the options if you are unable to get the solution. But avoid answering the questions by guessing as there is a negative marking of 0.5 mark per incorrectly answered question.
  7. Memorize the directions and sub-directions properly.
  8. Memorize the alphabetical positions of alphabets as well. A quick way to recall them is EJOTY where E is the 5th alphabet, J the 10th alphabet and so on… Similarly, a quick way to remember the alphabets’ position in the reverse order is VQLGB.
  9. Practice more questions on series. These questions are very frequently asked in SSC exams.
  10. Don’t miss revising & practising questions on non-verbal reasoning such as dice, paper folding etc.
