Today we are here with the success story of Sowmiya S who cleared IBPS PO examination. She haven’t adopted any strategy in her preparation and despite of many failures she finally managed to gain success. Reasoning was her favorite section and as mentioned she learned new patterns of questions from mocks. She has beautifully explained her exam strategy well and thus, one must give it a read to this motivational success story. So, here we are presenting her success story through our platform.
I have been preparing for bank exam from 2019 March, So almost after two years am here to write this post. I was worked as an assistant system engineer in a renowned IT company after my graduation. With an intention of getting a stable career, decided to prepare for bank exams. For the basics, I joined an institute and after three months of basics class.. I have started preparing from my own. I took my own time to make myself strong in the basis.
I have appeared for almost all the exams from the year 2019. Initially I failed in my first two prelims exams itself. With time I started clearing prelims but mains preparation was unlike the prelims. It took mw two mains to understand the level and way to prepare for mains. I have appeared for five mains and IBPS PO – x is my sixth one. I missed the previous two exams in nearby cut offs.
English Section Preparation Strategy
To be honest, I haven’t prepared anything for English. Just doing mocks and proper review importantly repeated review of mocks helped me a lot. From the mocks itself I have noted the error spotting logics etc.
Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy
I am not soo good at quants unlike english and reasoning. But I have always kept trying to push my score in this part. Instead of trying all the application problems, i have sorted out the topics were i can score more easily and i only worked on it. I was an a very average performer here.

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy
This is my fav part of all! So just with basics concepts and learnt new patterns from mocks, I was able to give a very decent score in reasoning. Practicing on a random puzzles with time has helped me to analyze my own performance.
General Awareness Section Preparation Strategy
GA is main part where u can score more. For my initial exams i studied from only monthly current affairs after the prelims results which was the major mistake i did(because it didn’t worked for me). Once I realized that daily GA can only help, I studied in two websites(any two just for the coverage). As I am just a human, sometimes I won’t feel like studying and I would miss this for days and will make it with a revision part.
I think I haven’t adopted any strategy in my preparation. One thing I did was, instead of trying the weaker part again and again, I gave my full in my stronger area. The reason I cleared my mains this time just because my English score. None other sections have helped me even GA. Daily prelims mocks even prelims exam is there or not, helped me to stay in the flow. For GA section, we have a group of friends where we will be giving our daily quizzes and weekly quizzes which helped me a lot. Whether you have exams or not having mocks and reviewing it gives you the best results.
Of course, since its been two years and there were soo many failures which will make u to feel like quitting the process, and I am no exceptional. At times of results I felt devastated and I deserved nothing here. But with time I became like Its okay to be failed but its not okay to go back. Whenever I felt highly demotivated or stressed, I will talk with my friends and family.
From the beginner to here, the website i have opted for my mocks is PracticeMock. I personally feel PM test are more real and comfortable, let it be the UI or the explanation part PM is the best.
My dear friends, the only tips I wish to give you all is ”Trust Yourself” and that’s all! Its your path, u have to walk….the only light in this path is ‘hope’. So hold it tightly, put ur efforts, walk continuously, ur light will show ur stop! Trust me guys, if I can do this, you all can!!
