Introduction

The Security and Exchange Board in India (SEBI) Grade A examination is conducted to recruit officers in various streams of SEBI, such as General, Legal, Information Technology, Engineering, Research, and Official Language. This year Phase I and Phase II Exam of SEBI is scheduled on August 5 and September 9 respectively. Candidates can apply for a maximum of two streams based on their educational qualifications.

SEBI Grade A Exam Pattern 2023

The SEBI Grade A exam is conducted in 3 stages, Phase I, Phase II & an Interview.

SEBI Grade A Exam Phase I: Objective Questions

  • Phase one consists of two papers of 100 marks each and different durations depending on the stream.
  • Paper 1 entails General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and the Test of Reasoning for all streams.
  • Paper 2 consists of subjects related to the specific stream applied for, such as Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Companies Act, Economics, Legal, Information Technology, Engineering, etc.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/4th marks for each wrong answer.

SEBI Grade B Exam Phase II: Objective + Descriptive Question

  • It has two papers of 100 marks each. Exam duration depends on the stream.
    • Paper 1 is a descriptive test of English writing skills, such as essay, précis and comprehension for all streams.
    • Paper 2 is an objective test of subjects related to the specific stream applied for, such as the Financial Sector, Securities Market, Legal Aspects and Information Technology.

Cut off for the SEBI Grade A Exam 2023

Phase 1 online examination (Objective):

  • Paper 1: 30% sectional cut-off and 40% overall cut off
  • Paper 2: 40% sectional cut-off and 50% overall cut off

Phase 2 online examination (Objective + Descriptive):

  • Paper 1: 30% sectional cut-off and 50% overall cut off
  • Paper 2: 40% sectional cut-off and 50% overall cut off

Phase 3 interview: 15% weightage in the final selection
