Seating Arrangement Questions for the SBI Clerk Mains 2025 Exam

Here we are providing the SBI Clerk mains Seating Arrangement important questions. Candidates solve all questions with detailed solutions.

Directions (1-5): Answer the questions based on the information given below.

Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting in the row with five of them are facing the north direction and the rest of them are facing in south direction. All of them have different amounts of pens 18, 25, 36, 86, 14, 16, 42 and 73 but not in the same order. The left and right ends are considered with respect to the north direction.

__III__ sits to the immediate left of F. Four persons sit between G and D. C sits to the immediate left of E and C has odd perfect square numbered pens. D has perfect square numbered pens and sits 3rd to the right of C. __IV__ has 86 pens. B sits somewhere to the right of C. F has a number of pens which is 3 times the number of pens of H. D has number of pens which is double the number of pens of A. E sits 3rd from the one end of the row and he has second highest number of pens. __I__ sits second to the right of F. B has even number of pens. C and G both face the same direction. A sits 4th to the left of C. E faces the south direction. __II__is the difference of the total number of pens of G and C. Both C and G are immediate neighbors of F. B has more pens than G. __V__ sits at the left end of the row.

Common solution:

E sits 3rd from the one end of the row and he has second highest number of pens so, E either sits 3rd from the left or right end of the row and E has 73 pens. E faces south direction and C sits immediate left of E. D sits 3rd to the right of C. Hence, position of E has been fixed and E sits 3rd from the left end of the row.

Case I: When D sits at the extreme left end of the row.

D(36/16) E(south)73C(south)(25)

Case II: When D sits second from the right end.

  E(south)73C(north)(25)  D(36/16)

Four persons sit between G and D. C and G both are immediate neighbors of F. So, case II is invalid.

Both C and G face the same direction so both are facing the south direction. F has a number of pens which is 3 times of the pens does H have, so F has 42 pens and H has 14 pens. D has number of pens which is double of the pens of A, so if D has 36 pens then A has 18 pens.

The final arrangement is as follows;

D(north)(36)B(north)86E(south)73C(south)(25)F(north)42G(south)16H(north)14A(north)18

Tips to Help You Solve Seating Arrangement Questions Quickly

Here are some tips that will help you solve seating arrangements sets quickly and with accuracy:

  • Never start with a negative piece of information. It’s a lot easier to manage the information that “A sits next to B” when compared to “A doesn’t sit next to B”. In the latter, you only know that A doesn’t sit next to B and he can be sitting next to anybody else. Use the negative information at the end to fill the gaps.
  • Generally, aspirants believe that the longer a seating arrangement set is, the tougher it will be. So, it really depends on the question. The more practice you do, the better you get acquainted with different kinds of seating arrangement sets and then can determine quickly if a given setting arrangement is easy, moderate or difficult.
  • Carefully go through the given information. Be confident enough to solve the seating arrangement set as the information required is already there. You just need to arrange the information.
  • There is a difference between sitting right and sitting immediately right. If B is sitting right to A that implies that there may be 1 or more person between A & B. But if B is sitting immediately right to A, that means that there is nobody between A & B. 5.
  • As mentioned earlier, you can observe additional attributes/variables in a set for eg. people’s preference for food, cities or their relations etc. However, keep in mind that whatever more information is provided, it basically remains a seating arrangement question.
