Mnay are still in fear because of how they performed in mathematics during the school days. So, at first this mindset need to be changed. You shouldn’t fear maths as it is a subject which demands practice. The more you solve the more you deattach ith its fear of complexity. Otherwise, it will always create problems for you. And most importantly, it’s advised to follow a strategic strategy for quant preparation. It’s not only a game of concepts but also how quickly can you solve them.
During prelims, the examiner will test you on your speed and accuracy. In prelims, the idea is to get maximum correct answers so that you can qualify for the mains. Judgment of the difficulty level on the exam would also be crucial. Sectional mock tests play a huge role in such a preparation a sit allows you to particularly focus on an individual section and they also help you in making a judgment about the exam. During mains, the examiner will test you on your conceptual knowledge. So, ideally you should be preparing for prelims as if you are preparing for mains.
Divide the questions as per different categories: speed maths questions, arithmetic, and data interpretation. This way you will be able to devise a clear attempt strategy. Otherwise, if you choose to go topic-wise it will become too chaotic for you to set a clear goal . Category-wise division enabales you to prioritize the sequence of attempts.
You can divide your time in the following manner:
15 speed math questions – 6 minutes
10 DI based questions – 8 minutes
If 10 Arithmetic questions – 6 minutes (7-8 attempts)
Please note this is just an example. Divide your attempt strategy as per the number of questions asked.
The mains section has 60 marks of pure DI. So, don’t wait until you have cleared prelims because that would be recipe for disaster. You will have to be proactive when it comes to DI. Ideally, you should be practicing DI daily.
