With the date of SBI PO Prelims falling on December 17, 2022, there are a little bit more than two and a half months left for your preparation. Please note that this year the number of vacancies is less when compared with the previous years’ vacancies and because of this, the competition would be really high. There will be lakhs of aspirants appearing in Prelims and you need to outshine them by preparing well. Use this time period of one month to understand different topics of all the 3 sections (viz. English Language, Numerical Ability & Reasoning Ability) and the remaining time to practice a number of questions. In this article, we are going to help you with the syllabus & preparation strategy for the reasoning section. Let’s first have a look at the SBI PO 2022 Prelims Exam Pattern.
S. No. | Name of Objective Test | No. of Questions | Total Time |
1 | English Language | 30 | 20 mins |
2 | Quantitative Aptitude | 35 | 20 mins |
3 | Reasoning Ability | 35 | 20 mins |
Total | 100 | 60 mins |
Before starting with the preparation of Reasoning section, you must have a complete idea of what all topics you need to cover. We are providing the syllabus for reasoning section below:
There are 35 questions to be solved in 20 minutes which is definitely going to be a challenge. Also, the fact that there is a negative marking of 0.25 mark so you need to be very careful as you maintain the balance of speed and accuracy. We suggest that you take a free mock test of SBI Clerk Prelims. This will help you get an overall idea of the level of your preparation. Also, it will highlight your weak areas. Now the next task would be to divide the topics of this section into 3 parts: easy, moderate and difficult. Work on those topics which seem difficult to you and ensure that you understand the concept well. For this purpose, watch online videos or learn from books.
Once you have understood the concepts of the majority of the topics, start practising questions without any time limit. Solve at least 100 questions on each topic. Even if a question looks difficult to you, try solving it. Look at the detailed explanation and try to understand it. Doing this repeatedly will clarify your concept and at the same time, this exercise will help you identify easy & moderate questions. Solving 100 questions on a single topic is not easy and you need to devote 6-8 hours on a daily basis to your preparation. Try to finish this ‘practising task’ by the 1st week of November.
After having done enough practice, now would be the best time to put your skills to test in an exam-like environment. Start taking mock tests and test different strategies. For eg., you can try answering the easy & moderate questions first before moving to the difficult ones. Use all the shortcuts & tricks you have learnt all this while and see how well you cope in a controlled environment. Don’t just stop at taking mock tests. Take some time to analyse them as well. By analysing them you will get to know your mistakes and by referring to the detailed solutions, you can ensure that you don’t repeat the same mistake in the actual exam.
This is all from us in this article. Remember to keep taking mock tests to ensure that you are at the best of your performance. Please use the comment box below if you have any feedback for us.
Wishing you good luck with your preparation!
