Duties & Responsibilities of an SBI PO
- To handle day-to-day banking operations such as opening new accounts, to securely handle debit & credit cards, to make FDs/ DD/ PO, to process loan, to handle cheque book, to process NEFT/ RTGS, to process and issue of debit/ credit cards, chequebooks, demand drafts etc.
- To interact with customers on a daily basis to respond to their queries, to promote products like recurring deposits, fixed deposits, insurance policies, mutual funds, credit cards, loans etc, to meet targets of lead generation & sales within the deadlines
- To perform clerical activities like handling cash deposits & withdrawals in case of emergencies such as heavy rush or the absence of teller/clerk
- To be responsible for ATM activities
- To follow the maker & checker system (where the PO is responsible for the verification of all the transactions processed by bank clerks)
- To generate reports of daily operational transactions like deposits, withdrawals, ledger balances etc.
- To communicate with stakeholders and regulators and to maintain track of new developments
Salary Package of an SBI PO
The in-hand salary of an SBI PO will range between Rs 52,000 and Rs 54,000 depending on numerous factors like place of posting and other factors. Below is the salary structure of this profile.

There are several other allowances like Dearness Allowance, CCA (City Compensatory Allowance), Leased House Accommodation, Furniture Allowance, Medical Insurance, Travelling Allowance, Petrol Allowance, Entertainment Allowance, Newspaper Allowance etc. Also, the fact that housing loans, car loans and personal loans are available at concessional interest rates for SBI POs.
