SBI clerk exam is a national-level-yearly exam. It is a computer-based online mode test. In it, the Candidates who pass the SBI Clerk preliminary exam are entitled to take the SBI Clerk mains exam. SBI Clerk 2022: Promotion Opportunities
An SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) can get promoted up to 3 times. Once when he/she completes 10 years of service, and afterwards when he completes 20 years of service. Lastly, when he/she completes 30 years of service he/she gets promoted.
Posts he/she gets:
- After the completion of 10 years of service, an SBI Clerk gets promoted to Senior Assistant
- After completing 20 years of service, an SBI Clerk gets gets promoted to Special Assistant.
- After the completion of 30 years of service, an SBI Clerk gets promoted to Senior Special Assistant.
Note: Each promotion results in some increments to their allowances provided to them. At SBI, In-cadre promotions are purely on basis of seniority.

1. Can a SBI Clerk become manager?
Ans. Yes! Candidates that join different banks as Clerks can reach the position of General Manager.
2. Can SBI Clerk promoted to SBI PO?
Ans. An SBI Clerk becomes eligible for promotion to a higher scale after completing 3 years of service and exams like JAIIB and CAIIB. An SBI PO is eligible to seek promotion to Scale-II after 2 years of completion of their service as a Probationary Officer. Completion of JAIIB and CAIIB is also mandatory for this post.
