SBI Clerk Subject-wise Preparation Strategy 2024

The SBI Clerk exam process includes an online test (both Preliminary & Main exams) and a Local Language test of the candidate’s choice. The Prelims lasts for 60 minutes and includes 3 sections, whereas, the Mains exam lasts for 2 hours 40 minutes including 5 sections. There is a negative marking scheme also where 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer in both exams. There is no interview stage in the SBI Clerk 2024 selection process as in the SBI PO exam. The Mains exam consists of four sections: General / Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude. Each section in the SBI Clerk exam 2024 is allotted different marks and different sectional timings.

Here are some important subject-wise preparation tips for the SBI Clerk exam 2024:

1. Quantitative Aptitude

The quants section is an important section of the exam. It can be tough but if you’re good at mathematical calculations, you can score high marks in it. But you have to practice questions daily to achieve it. So, you should cultivate the habit of solving 20 to 30 quantitative questions every day to improve your calculation speed and accuracy. Also, keep in mind the time management. Every time you practice, time yourself. This will help you manage your time better during the actual Clerk exam 2024 exam. Solve different types of Questions especially Data Interpretation (DI) and Caselet DI, as they are common in the Mains exam, and the mains exam tests candidates with tougher questions.

2. Reasoning Ability

Reasoning is also tough but scoring, if prepared well. Do puzzle Practice and dedicate ample time to solving at least 2-3 puzzles daily. Although, puzzles can be time-consuming, when you get good at them solving questions will be like eating peanuts. Also, master the art of question selection when approaching to the reasoning section. Start with the questions that seem easier to you to help you secure marks quickly before you move on to tougher puzzles that require a lot of time.

3. English Language

English can be the scoring section for those who are good at grammar and have built a good vocabulary. The candidates who are weak in these or one of these areas get confused while solving English questions and are afraid of it, especially candidates from Hindi medium backgrounds. But we know many such students who improved their English skills and scored maximum or full marks in it in the Past. This section, like other sections, also demands consistent Practice. Therefore, you should start solving various English questions regularly to get familiar with the patterns and types of questions asked. In addition, build Vocabulary by Learning new words daily, at least 10-20 or 30 words a day. Make sentence examples of those words and use it in daily writing sessions or conversations with friends so that you remember the usage in the proper context. Read newspapers, and books, and download vocabulary apps.

4. General/Financial Awareness

General/Financial Awareness can be the highest-scoring section of the entire exam. Because you don’t have to go through any memorizations or calculations in it. You just need to be updated with the latest happenings or events and know some general information related to different subjects. If you want to score full marks in General/Financial Awareness you need to go through current affairs by staying updated with the latest news, especially related to the banking and finance sector. Focus on the past 6 months before the exam and make study notes while studying. This will help you revise everything quickly before the exam.
