SBI Clerk Prelims 2021- Strategy to Ace the Reasoning Section

SBI Clerk Prelims will take place in the month of June 2021. This leaves you with only 1 month of exam preparation. Since the notification of this exam was out some 3-4 day back by SBI, we believe that by now aspirants must have started their exam preparation. NOTE:

  • Prelims Exam is just Qualifying in nature and no minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for the individual test or for the aggregate score.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/4 mark per question for each wrong answer.

As you must have noticed that in the reasoning section, you need to solve 35 questions in 20 minutes. This is for sure going to be a challenging situation considering the fact that there is a negative marking of 0.25 mark. After all, you need to maintain a balance of speed and accuracy to make the most of this section. Remember that this section will have a mix of easy, moderate and difficult questions. And it does make sense to solve easy & moderate questions first before touching the difficult ones. Now, you must be wondering how to differentiate easy & moderate questions from difficult ones.

Clarify Your Concepts

Pick a topic say, Alphanumeric Series. Read a couple of articles understanding its concept. Alternatively, you can watch videos online as well for this purpose. Solve at least 15-20 questions to get a hang of Alphanumeric Series questions. By now, you must have got an overall idea of the kinds of questions asked. Try to develop your own tricks & shortcuts for these kinds of questions. There are plenty of videos online; take their help as well. Now, start practising questions using these tricks & shortcuts. Solve at least 40-50 questions on this topic. After solving these many questions, your speed must have increased and you must have got an idea of the different types of questions.

Start Taking Sectional Tests

Start doing this for all the topics. This exercise should get over by the second week of May 2021 and as you keep giving sectional tests you will keep developing and will understand a lot of tricks to solve different types of questions. Now is the time to start taking tests in a controlled environment. Start taking sectional tests and use the report card to see which areas still have a scope of improvement. Start putting extra efforts into those areas and if at all, you get bored doing all this, remember that your competition is with around lakhs of aspirants. Keep taking Mock Tests in between as well as you would definitely like to see your performance in a completely simulated test in a controlled environment.
