1. Simplification

Simplification is a basic topic that deals mainly with the simplification of complex algebraic expressions.   • If A : B = m : n, then A = (m/(m+n)) × Total and B = (n/(m+n)) × Total

7. Time and Work

  • Work = Time × Rate
  • If A can do a work in x days and B in y days, then:
    • Work done by A in 1 day = 1/x
    • Work done by B in 1 day = 1/y
    • Combined work = (1/x + 1/y)

8. Speed, Distance, and Time

  • Distance = Speed × Time
  • Speed = Distance / Time
  • Time = Distance / Speed

9. Area and Perimeter

  • Rectangle: Area = l × b; Perimeter = 2(l + b)
  • Square: Area = a²; Perimeter = 4a
  • Triangle: Area = (1/2) × base × height
  • Circle: Area = πr²; Circumference = 2πr

10. Algebraic Identities

  • (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²
  • (a – b)² = a² – 2ab + b²
  • a² – b² = (a + b)(a – b)

11. Quadratic Equations

  • Roots of ax² + bx + c = 0 are given by:

12. Probability

  • Probability (P) = (Number of Favorable Outcomes) / (Total Outcomes)

13. Permutations and Combinations

  • Permutations of n objects = n! (factorial)
  • Combinations of n objects taken r at a time = nCr = n! / [r!(n-r)!]

14. Interest Rates and Time Conversions

  • For monthly rates: Annual Rate/12
  • For days in a year: Typically 365 (or 360 in some calculations)

15. HCF and LCM

  • HCF (Highest Common Factor) and LCM (Lowest Common Multiple):
    • LCM(a, b) = (a × b) / HCF(a, b)

marks of two students which are 115, and 112 are added, then the average marks of

Question 2: Ratio of the efficiency of pipe ‘A’ to that of pipe ‘B’ is 3:1, while working
together they can fill a tank in 18 minutes. If pipe ‘C’ is 100% more efficient than pipe

Question 3: Five years hence from now, ratio of ages of ‘A’ and ‘B’ will be 4:3,

Question 4: A shoe seller sells pair of shoes whose marked price are Rs. 1,040. While

Question 5: ‘A’ started the business with an initial investment of Rs. 2,000. After ‘M’
