Basic details of RRB PO Prelims & the Reasoning section

RRB Clerk Prelims will take place on August 5, 2023, onwards leaving 4 months for you to prepare for this exam. We are sure that you would already know this but to remind you once again, there are going to be lakhs of competitors whom you need to outsmart. So we would recommend you start your preparation asap and not skip a single day until August 5. Today we will be providing you with a strategy to ace the reasoning section of this exam. This section has 40 questions of 40 marks, for which you are given 45 minutes (please keep in mind that in these 45 minutes, you will have to answer Quantitative Aptitude section as well). Each incorrectly answered question will attract a negative marking of 0.25 mark.

Time is Money

With only 45 minutes in this section and 80 questions to be evaluated (and a majority of them to be answered), it’s obviously going to be a herculean task. However, don’t panic, you can always do enough practice beforehand and perform well in this section. 45 minutes for 80 questions imply that you get less than 35 seconds for a question. Last year’s cut-off of 12.5 imply that not all questions need to be solved but at the same time, you need to understand that the overall score needs to be maximized and you need to make the most of these 45 minutes. It’s advisable to analyze and pick the easy questions and solve them to maximize your score in the given time. Also, for a decent accuracy avoid making guesses as there is a negative marking in place.

As the name states, it’s purely a test of logic/reasoning & concentration. Understand the inherent rules of different concepts and practice different questions on the same concept to get a good understanding. Please be informed that a number of banking exams have introduced several types of questions which involve more than one concept and because of this are a bit complicated to solve and take more time. You need to practice on these questions in controlled situations (such as when taking mock tests) so that you can take on similar questions in the actual exam.
