1. General Science (GS):

In this section, the questions are mainly asked from the basic subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from the 10th standard level of education.

Preparation Strategy:

  • Focus on NCERTs: Read all the NCERT Science Books of Classes 6 to 10 i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Biology. These are basics and will help you to establish good practice and set a base.
  • Important Topics to Cover:
    • Physics: Laws of motion inertia, gravitation, energy, light, heat, and so on.
    • Chemistry: Reactions involving chemicals, Acids and bases, Metals and non-metals, etc. The relationships between various elements.
    • Biology: Organic systems within the human body, plants, animals, etc.
  • Daily Practice: Practice a few questions from each topic and ensure that you solve at least one question from each of the topics each day. You may use books such as “Lucent’s General Science”.
  • Mock Tests: Keep on practicing the full-length tests and previous year’s papers in order to improve speed as well as accuracy.

2. Mathematics:

This section focuses on numbers & operations, algebra, and geometry as fundamental properties of mathematics.

Preparation Strategy:

  • Concept Clarity: Start by revising the basic concepts and formulas for topics like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation.
  • Important Topics to Cover:
    • Number System, Simplification, Percentages, Ratio and Proportions, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest.
    • Algebra: Linear equations, quadratic equations, etc.
    • Geometry and Mensuration: Areas, volumes, and surface areas of various geometrical shapes.
    • Data Interpretation: Bar graphs, pie charts, and tables.
  • Practice is Important: Solve at least 30-40 problems daily. Focus on improving speed and accuracy.
  • Books: “Quantitative Aptitude” by R.S. Agarwal is highly recommended for this section.

3. General Intelligence & Reasoning:

The RRB asks questions from this section to test your logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Understand the Types of Questions: Get familiar with the types of reasoning questions that are usually asked, such as analogies, number series, coding-decoding, directions, and seating arrangements.
  • Important Topics to Cover:

  • Stay Updated: Continue reading newspapers in order to be acquainted with recent events. The main topics to be covered include; sports, politics, economy, awards, and major national and international events.
  • Revise Static GK: Select topics that contain Ancient history, Medieval history, Modern history, Indian geography and world geography, Indian economy, polity of India, and environmental studies.
  • Important Topics to Cover:
    • Indian History: Details related to the freedom movement, important dates with personalities.
    • Geography: Geography of India and world capitals states rivers and mountains.
