Management is an important and scoring part of Paper II in the Phase 2 exam. It comes under ‘General Finance and Management.’ Through this portion, you can fetch approximately 20 to 25% marks in this section, because it is not as heavy as finance-related topics. The questions in this Management part will test your understanding of the Fundamentals of Management, Organizational Behaviour, Leadership, and Development. Therefore, if you have a good understanding of the Management topics, you will be able to perform well in the responsibilities and decision-making related to the Grade B post. Although this part has more theories compared to finance, it is essential to have a deep understanding of those theories to answer related questions. RBI Grade B Phase 2 Exam Pattern and Management Syllabus

Before we jump on to the important topics or those that were asked in 2023-2024, we must first take a look at the RBI Grade B phase 2 exam pattern and syllabus to get a better picture of the Management part of the exam.

RBI Grade B Phase 2 Exam Pattern:

Management is a part of Paper III, Finance, Management, and Ethics. It tests candidates’ knowledge with management-related questions. 50 percent of the questions General Finance and Management part are objective, and 50 percent are descriptive types. You’ll have to give typed answers to the descriptive questions, using a keyboard (not with pen and paper mode). Plus, you also get the option to type in Hindi, if you don’t feel comfortable typing in English.

General Management Syllabus:

It is mandatory to carefully and deeply go through all the topics that make up the entire General management syllabus. Bear in mind that all the topics are meant to be covered thoroughly. Given below are the topics that you need to prepare well to tackle all types of questions:

  • Development (OD): Organisational Change, Strategies for Change, Theories of Planned Change (Lewin’s change model, Action research model, Positive model).
  • Ethics at the Workplace and Corporate Governance: Meaning of ethics, why ethical problems occur in business. Theories of ethics: Utilitarianism: weighing social cost and benefits, Rights and duties, Justice and fairness, ethics of care, integrating utility, rights, justice and caring, An alternative to moral principles: virtue ethics, teleological theories, egoism theory, relativism theory, Moral issues in business: Ethics in Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, etc. Ethical Principles in Business: introduction, Organization Structure and Ethics, Role of Board of Directors, Best Practices in Ethics Programme, Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, etc.
  • Corporate Governance: Factors affecting Corporate Governance; Mechanisms of Corporate Governance.
  • Communication: Steps in the Communication Process; Communication Channels; Oral versus Written Communication; Verbal versus non-verbal Communication; upward, downward and lateral communication; Barriers to Communication, Role of Information Technology
