RBI Grade B English Language Topics- Most Expected!

RBI Grade B 2022 Notification has definitely brought a ray of hope to aspirants- typically to those who are preparing for government banking exams. While the notification was finally released with 294 vacancies, the time is less for your preparation. The Phase I exam is falling on May 28, 2022, leaving you with around 2 months for getting your strategy right. You must be aware that the difficulty level of this exam is a notch higher than the remaining exams and therefore it’s high time that you get started with your preparation. In this article, we will be discussing the important & expected topics of RBI Grade B English Language. If you prepare these topics well, it’s very likely that you clear the cut-offs of this section. But before that, have a look at the exam pattern of RBI Grade B Phase I.

RBI Grade B 2021 Phase I Exam Pattern

The Paper will consist of the below tests:

  • General Awareness
  • English Language
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Reasoning

A total time of 120 minutes will be given for answering. However, separate time will be allotted for each test.

How much time will be provided for each section and how many questions will be there in each section will be revealed later by RBI (in the information handout). But to give you a perspective, the exam pattern which was revealed in the 2021 information handout, is below:

Like other sections, the English Language section needs a thorough preparation strategy. You need to clarify the concepts and do a lot of practice. Important & Expected Topics of English Language Section

Reading Comprehension

  • The difficulty level of these questions is moderate to difficult.
  • There are some questions that are completely based on your vocabulary. Having a good word power will definitely give you an edge over other aspirants.
  • Consider the usage of the word (whose synonym/antonym is asked) in the given context before selecting its popular meaning.
  • Solve the easy questions first. These may be direct questions or questions on vocab. Questions that may take more time can be skipped for the later part of the exam.

Cloze Test

  • The best tip to answer cloze test is to go through the complete passage and get an idea of its context, and then guess which would be the best option without looking at the option. Then, you should pick the option which is closest to your guess.
  • The better your vocabulary is, the better chances you have at answering these questions.
  • Your reading habits also matter a lot in answering these questions.

Parajumbles

  • Try to read all the sentence and figure out the opening and closing sentences.
  • Look out for connector words like instead, additionally, hence etc.
  • If dates are there, try to arrange them to get the correct sequence.
  • Your reading habits and word power play a major role in answering the questions.

Error Spotting

  • Grammar rules are extremely important to answer questions on this topic. However, practice (and reviewing your attempts) matters all the more to answer error spotting questions.
  • After answering, evaluate your answers and if you have answered any question incorrectly, review your mistake and understand the reason why you made the mistake. This will go a long way in improving your performance in these questions.

Fill in the Blanks

  • The trick to answering Fillers is very similar to that of cloze test. Read and understand the context and guess the answer. Pick the option which is the closest to your guess.
  • Prior practice and a good reading habit are all you need to master this section.
  • Take cues from the preceding and succeeding words to get an idea of what will be the answer.
