The basic salary of an RBI Assistant is INR 14,650. Other than the basic pay, RBI assistants will get increments and incentives awarded by the central government of India. The salary structure of RBI Assistant improved reasonably after the 7th pay commission.
According to the new salary structure, the basic pay is INR 13,150 with two added increments (for graduates only), which amounts to INR 14,650.
Candidates who will become RBI Assistants will receive a basic pay of ₹ 14,650/- per month (i.e., ₹ 13,150 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates) in the scale of 13,150-750 (3)-15,400- 900(4) -19,000-1,200(6)-26,200-1300 (2)-28,800- 1,480(3) – 33,240 – 1750 (1)- 34,990 (20 years).

The Promotions for most posts at RBI are given every two years, including RBI Assistants. RBI Assistants move up the ladder gradually to a higher-level position in a certain period of time. The promotions take place normally or through merit.
Normal process: The employee will have to take an internal exam with questions limited to the workings, services, functions of the Bank.
Merit-based Promotions: Another way to get promoted is through JAIIB or CAIIB diplomas. The Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) conducts these banking exams for Banking employees.
