The RBI Assistant Exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the recruitment of assistants in various offices of the central bank. The selection procedure consists of three stages: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Language Proficiency Test (LPT).
Prelims is an online objective test of 100 marks, comprising of three sections: English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. The duration of the test is one hour. Candidates have to qualify in each section and also secure the minimum cut-off marks decided by RBI.

The Main Exam is also an online objective test of 200 marks, consisting of five sections: Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. The duration of the test is two hours and fifteen minutes. Candidates have to qualify in each section and also secure the minimum cut-off marks decided by RBI.
The Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is a qualifying test conducted in the official or local language of the state or union territory where the candidate has applied. The LPT is conducted only for those candidates who have cleared the Main Exam. The LPT is of 30 minutes duration and tests the candidate’s ability to read, write and speak the language.
Candidates who qualify in all three stages are selected for the post of RBI Assistant based on their performance in the Main Exam and their preference of office location. The final merit list is prepared after verifying the eligibility criteria and document verification of the candidates.
