SBI PO Prelims Free Mock Test 2023
1. Ratio: The ratio of two quantities ‘a’ and ‘b’, in the same units, is the fraction (a/b) and we write it as a:b.
2. Proportion: The equality of two ratios is called proportion.
If a:b = c:d, we write, a:b::c:d and we say that ‘a’, ‘b’, ‘c’, ‘d’ are in proportion. Here ‘a’ and ‘d’ are called extremes, while ‘b’ and ‘c’ are called mean terms. Also, Product of means = Product of extremes.
Thus, a:b::c:d = (b × c) = (a × d)
3. Third Proportional: If a:b = b:c, then ‘c’ is called the third proportional to ‘a’ and ‘b’.
4. Fourth Proportional: If a:b = c:d, then ‘d’ is called the fourth proportional to ‘a’, ‘b’ and ‘c’.
5. Mean Proportional: Mean proportional between ‘a’ and ‘b’ is √ab.
6. If a > b and ‘x’ is a positive quantity, then (a/b) > {(a + x)/(b + x)} and (a/b) < {(a – x)/(b – x)}
7. If a < b and ‘x’ is a positive quantity, then (a/b) < {(a + x)/(b + x)} and (a/b) > {(a – x)/(b – x)}
8. If (a/b) = (c/d) = (e/f) = k, then:
i. {(a + c + e)/(b + d + f)} = k
ii. {(pa + qc + re)/(pb + qd + rf)} = k, where all ‘p’, ‘q’ and ‘r’ are either positive or negative real numbers.

7) – D) | 8) – A) | 9) – C) | 10) – A) |
Solution 1: B)
Number of apples sold by Mohan = 1250/5 × 8 = 2000
Number of apples sold by Munna = 27/40 × 2000 = 1350
Hence, option b.
Solution 2: C)
Number of males in village = {5/(5 + 3)} × 6240 = 3900
Number of females in village = {3/(5 + 3)} × 6240 = 2340
According to question,
3900: (2340 + 510) = 26: x
3900: 2850 = 26: x
150: 2850 = 1: x
x = 2850/150, x = 19
So, (32 – x) = 32 – 19 = 13
Hence, option c.
Solution 3: B)
Coins received by Yudhishthir in first case = (4/(2 + 3 + 4)) × 1260 = 560
Coins received by Yudhishthir mistakenly = (x/(2 + 3 + x)) × 1260
According to question,
(x/(2 + 3 + x)) × 1260 = 560 – 200
1260x = 360(5 + x)
1260x = 360x + 1800
1260x – 360x = 1800
x = 1800/900 = 2
Hence, option b.
Solution 4: A)
Let the total employees = x
According to the question,
x × 4/9 – x × 7/16 = 2
(64x – 63x)/144 = 2
x = 288
Hence, option a.
Solution 5: C)
Number of mobiles sold = 800 × 13/32 = 325
Number of laptops sold = 800 – 325 = 475
Therefore, number of earphones sold = 325 – 100 = 225
Required ratio = 225:475 = 9:19
Hence, option c.
SBI PO Prelims Free Mock Test 2023
Solution 6: A)
Let the number of waitlisted and RAC tickets booked be 9x and 5x respectively.
Therefore, number of confirmed tickets booked = 1.25(9x – 5x) = 5x
According to the question,
5x + 5x + 9x = 6650
Or, x = 6650/19 = 350
Required sum = (5x + 5x) = 10x = 3500
Hence, option a.
Solution 7: D)
Let the total number of laptops and mobiles be 9x and 8x respectively.
And the number of laptops and mobiles sold be 5y and 7y respectively.
According to the question,
9x – 5y = 105…… (1)
8x – 7y = 55……. (2)
On solving equation (1) and (2), we get x = 20 and y = 15
Required ratio = 5y/105 = 5:7
Hence, option d.

Solution 8: A)
Let the number of blue balls drawn be ‘x’
Therefore, number of red balls drawn = (x – 2)
According to the question,
(48 – x)/(32 – x + 2) = 16/9
Or, 432 – 9x = 544 – 16x
Or, 7x = 112
Or, x = 16
Therefore, total number of balls drawn = x + x – 2 = 2x – 2 = 30 balls
Hence, option a.
Solution 9: C)
Number of males in Company A = 1920
Number of females in Company A = 1920 × (3/4) = 1440
Total number of employees in Company A = 1920 + 1440 = 3360
Total number of employees in Company B = 1.25 × 3360 = 4200
Number of females in Company B = 4200 × (5/12) = 1750
Required difference = 1750 – 1440 = 310
Hence, option c.
SBI PO Prelims Free Mock Test 2023
Solution 10: A)
Let the amount spent by Daksh on four items be Rs. 5x, Rs. 8x, Rs. 2x and Rs. 3x, respectively
According to the question,
8x – 2x = 900
Or, x = 900/6 = 150
Pocket money received by Daksh = (5x + 8x + 2x + 3x) + 900 = Rs. 3600
Hence, option a.
