Seven stars (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G) have different brightness. A is the 3rd brightest star. B is brighter than A but not brighter than C. D is not brighter than F. G is brighter than F but not brighter than E.

Common solution:

Clues:

1. A is the 3rd brightest star.

2. B is brighter than A but not brighter than C.

3. G is brighter than F but not brighter than E.

4. D is not brighter than F.

Inferences:

From clue 1 and clue 2, we get

C > B > A

From clue 3 and clue 4, we get,

E > G > F > D

From clue 4, we get, F is the eldest person as both B and D are younger than E.
