Puzzle Questions For SBI Clerk and PO Exam

Here we are providing some important questions along with detailed solutions. All the puzzle questions are given in the below article and candidates can check the detailed solutions in the given PDF.

SBI Clerk Pre Puzzles

Directions(1-5): Answer the questions based on the information given below.

There are eleven persons P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z are living in a 11-floors building on different floors from top to bottom such that ground floor is numbered as 1 and top floor is numbered as 11.

P lives above U. X lives above T but not immediately above T. T does not live immediately above or immediately below R. V lives on 7th floor. Two persons live between V and W. S lives immediately above W. Number of persons living above S is same as the number of persons living below Q. Five persons live between U and Z, who lives below V. Only one person lives between V and R. Y lives below R.

Common Solution:

Starting Point: Start with the direct information we have, i.e. V lives on 7th floor.

Clues: Two persons live between V and W. S lives immediately above W. The Number of persons live above S is same as the number of persons living below Q. Only one person lives between V and R

Inference: So, either W lives below or above V but as the number of persons living above S is same as number of persons living below Q which means W lives above V because S lives immediately above W.

Now, there are two possibilities i.e. either R lives above or below V.

Case I: When R lives above V:

10W
9R

7V

Case II: When R lives below V:

FloorsPersons
11S
10W
9
8
7V
6
5R
4
3
2
1Q

Clues: Five persons live between U and Z, who live below V. Y lives below R. P lives above U. X lives above T but not immediately. T does not live immediately above or immediately below R.

Inference: Now, five persons live between U and Z and Z lives below V which means U must live above V but in case I if U lives above V then we cannot place P so, case I is rejected.

Now, in case II, P must live on the 9th floor and U live on the 8th floor. Also, T must live on the 3rd floor and Y live immediately above T.

The final arrangement is as follows:

FloorsPersons
11S
10W
9P
