ECGC Probationary Officer (PO) Exam Pattern & Syllabus

We advise you to start practicing for the ECGC PO exam seriously. Subjects covered in the objective exam are Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computer  Knowledge, and General Awareness.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Objective Test

ECGC online examination is of 200 marks (200 questions)  and 140 minutes in duration. 1 mark is awarded for every correct answer. Negative marking is 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

Descriptive Test Pattern

Descriptive test pattern is of 40 marks and 40 minutes duration. Two questions are asked in the descriptive examination pattern essay writing and precis writing. Candidates can attempt descriptive questions after finishing the objective test. Then, ECGC conducts interview for PO posts to prepare final merit lists based on objective test, descriptive test, and interview.
