A) Rs. 1,800

B) Rs. 1,600

C) Rs. 1,400

D) Rs. 2,200

E) None of these

Solution 1: B)

Let, total marks be ‘x’

So, 0.35x + 30 = 240

0.35x = 210

x = 600

Hence, option b.

Solution 2: D)

Let length of the rectangle be 50 cm

Breadth of the rectangle be y cm

New breadth be ‘b’ cm.

Original area = 50y cm2

New length = 1.2 × 50 = 60 cm

According to question,

New Area = 60b

60 × b = 50y

b = 50y/60 = 5y/6

Desired decrease = [(y – 5y/6)/y] × 100 = 1/6 × 100 = 16.67%

Hence, option d.

Solution 3: D)

Let total number of books in the library be x

Percentage of Maithili books in the library = 100 – (16 + 30 + 18 + 24) = 100 – 88 = 12%

According to question,

0.12x = 150

x = 150/0.12 = 1250

Hence, option d.

Solution 4: B)

Population of town in the previous year = 9000/1.125 = 8000

So, male population in the previous year = 11/16 × 8000 = 5500

Hence, option b.

Solution 5: E)

Let the maximum marks of the examination = y

So, the passing marks of the examination = 0.36y

Marks secured by Mayank = 0.28y = 0.36y – x

x = 0.08y

Marks secured by Tushar = 0.45y = 0.36y + x + 12

x + 12 = 0.09y

0.08y + 12 = 0.09y

0.01y = 12

y = 1200

x = 0.08 × 1200

x = 96

So, the marks obtained by Mayank = 0.28 × 1200 = 336

Hence, option e.

Solution 6: E)

Amount received by mother = 500/7 * 14 = Rs. 1000

Salary of man = 1000/0.2 = Rs. 5000

Hence, option e.

Solution 7: A)

Let monthly income of Abhinay is Rs. 100x

Percentage of amount spent on travelling = 100 – 34 – 22 – 18 – 12 = 14%

According to question

0.34 × 100x – 0.14 × 100x = 3600

34x – 14x = 3600

20x = 3600

x = 180

Monthly income of Abhinay = Rs. 18000

Money spent on fooding = 0.22 × 18000 = Rs. 3960

Hence, option a.

Solution 8: A)

Let initial price be Rs. 100 and initial consumption be 30 units.

So, initial expenditure = 100 × 30 = Rs. 3000

Increased price = 1.35 × 100 = Rs. 135

Decreased consumption = (2/3) × 30 = 20 units

New expenditure = 135 × 20 = Rs. 2700

Decrease in expenditure = 3000 – 2700 = Rs. 300

Percentage decrease = 300/3000 × 100 = 10%

Hence, option a.

Solution 9: B)

Total number of people who visited Manali = 992/0.4 = 2480

Hence, option b.

Solution 10: D)

Monthly savings of Manish earlier = 12800 – 4000 = Rs. 8,800

Monthly income of Manish now = 0.75 × 12800 = Rs. 9,600

Monthly expenditure of Manish now = 4000 – 1000 = Rs. 3,000

Monthly savings of Manish now = 9600 – 3000 = Rs. 6,600

Desired change = 8800 – 6600 = Rs. 2,200

Hence, option d.
