NIACL AO Mains 2024 Study Plan: The NIACL AO 2024 Exam is conducted in three stages first prelims, second mains and third interview. The NIACL AO Prelims exam is done and the mains exam is conducted on 17th November 2024. The Mains exam includes four sections Namely Reasoning, Quant, English and general Awareness. As all candidates know some days are left in the NIACL AO Mains exam so here we are providing a comprehensive 15 days study plan for the NIACL AO Mains exam along with the topic test, mock test and other preparation resources.

NIACL AO Mains 2024 Exam Pattern

Before diving into preparation tips, it’s important to understand the exam pattern:

  • Objective Test (Main Exam):
    • Reasoning Ability: 50 questions, 50 marks, 40 minutes.
    • English Language: 50 questions, 50 marks, 40 minutes.
    • General Awareness (with a focus on insurance): 50 questions, 50 marks, 30 minutes.
    • Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions, 50 marks, 40 minutes.
    • Total Marks: 200.
    • Total Time: 150 minutes.
  • Descriptive Test:
    • Essay and Letter Writing: 2 questions, 30 marks, 30 minutes.

NIACL AO Mains Section Wise Detailed Preparation Tips

Here we are providing the NIACL AO mains section-wise study plan with general tips so that candidates can boost their preparation section-wise.

Reasoning Aptitude

  • Focus on Core Concepts: Emphasize areas carrying high weightage. Key areas include Seating Arrangement, Puzzles, Logical Reasoning, Syllogism, Inequality, Blood Relations, and Input Output
  • Practice Different Types of Puzzles: Be able to solve linear types of puzzles, circular puzzles and box-based puzzles etc. The more you master the variations, the easier you will be to attack challenging puzzles in the question paper.
  • Improve Speed and Accuracy: Solve reasoning quizzes and mock tests regularly so that problem-solving skills become quicker and more accurate. Keep focusing on time-bound practice to mirror the actual exam environment.

English Language

  • Grammatical Skills Strengthen: Review basic grammar rules and Error Spotting, Sentence Correction, and Fill in the Blanks must be practiced to strengthen grammatical accuracy.
  • Work on Reading Comprehension: Read passages on Reading Comprehension regularly so that your speed improves along with your understanding. This is a more common section in the exam, financial and insurance-related passages.
  • Vocabulary Building: Glance through newspapers, editorials, and business magazines so that your vocabulary is enhanced with time. Pay particular attention to words and phrases of common usage that will pop up in the Cloze Test or Fill in the Blanks.

Quantitative Aptitude

  • Revise Key Concepts: Discuss key topics such as Data Interpretation, Simplification, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, Profit and Loss, Time & Work, and Speed, Distance & Time.
  • Data Interpretation: These are very scoring questions, but the problem is they consume a lot of time. So, one must practice different types like bar graphs, line charts, pie charts, etc., to get an improvement in calculation speed.
  • Learn Shortcuts and Tricks: Master shortcuts for calculations like percentage conversions, square roots, and ratios so that you can save a lot of time during the examination.
  • Time Management: Give sectional tests to understand which type of question is better answered quickly and at which speed. Practice how you can balance your speed with accuracy across different types of questions.

General Awareness (with special focus on insurance)

Keep yourself updated on Current Affairs: The last 4-6 months of current affairs with a special focus on the news related to banking, insurance, finance, and the economy.
Understanding the Insurance Industry: The history of insurance in India, the role of IRDAI, various types of insurance policies, key terms, and recent trends in the insurance industry.
Read Financial Newspapers: Get updated with relevant news by reading the Economic Times, Business Standard and the Hindu business line etc.
Monthly General Awareness Capsules: Read the monthly current affairs compilations to ensure coverage of all important events.

Descriptive Test Essay and Letter Writing

Write often: Try to write at least one essay and one letter per week. Focus on improving the quality of content, structure and grammar.
Focus on Relevant Topics: Write essays on topics relating to the economy, insurance, banking, and current affairs. This will prepare you not only for the descriptive test but also give you a boost in your General Awareness
Practice Time Management: The descriptive test is time-bound. So, practice writing essays and letters within the time frame to enhance your speed.

General Tips for NIACL AO Mains 2024

  1. Follow a Study Plan: Design a daily and weekly schedule to cover all the sections systematically. More time should be devoted to weaker sections, and regular practice should be done on stronger areas.
  2. Mock Tests Regularly: Take full-length mock tests to get accustomed to the exam scenario. Analyze your performance after each test and identify the weak areas. Work on the time taken for those sections where you lag.
  3. Revise Daily: Always remember that revision should be a regular practice to retain concepts and formulas. Spend some time daily reviewing important topics and revisiting previously solved questions.
  4. Maintain Accuracy: There is a negative marking, so never guess answers. Rather, focus on improving accuracy to not lose marks for a wrong answer.
  5. Stay Healthy and Rest Well: Proper preparation is required for the body as well as for the mind. So, balance your diet, keep working out, and have plenty of sleep.
