How is the training life of NIACL AO?

It is conducted by the National Insurance Academy, Pune, and stay in a 4-star hotel which is located close to NIA. The teachers who take the classes are the best faculty and experts in the insurance market. The training module also includes visits like garage visits, outdoor activity centers, TPA office visits, etc.

What is the in-hand salary of a NIACL AO (New India Assurance)?

As per the new notification of 2021, the on-hand salary would be around 60,000 per month.

How is the work-life of NIACL AO (generalist) in terms of the job profile and salary?

The administrative Officer post of New India Assurance is one of the most versatile posts with incredible learning opportunities. Being selected as a generalist doesn’t mean you can’t explore other specific options. Generalist AO’s can be posted as legal or accounts officers in a divisional office or you can also be posted in the underwriting or nonsuit claims department as well.

Marketing enthusiasts can become a micro office in charge. If you are posted in a regional office then you will have exposure to many other departments such as IT, HR, Estate and establishment, Rajbhasha dept, audit dept, vigilance dept, etc. The Head Office posting can even give a few more options. The in-hand salary of 60K is more than you can ask for and also it isn’t stressful as LIC or bank PO jobs.

Is the level of NIACL AO exam difficult as compared to IBPS or SBI Mains exam?

Traditionally, the NIACL AO exam level lies somewhere between IBPS PO & SBI PO. However, you should prepare for the worst. Don’t bother about difficulty level too much as it’s going to be the same case with all other aspirants. Don’t focus on previous year’s exams or cut-offs. Keep giving the authentic mocks to improve your judgment about the paper.

What are the perks of a NIACL AO other than the salary and leased rent accommodation?

A provision of Mutual Benefit Society of NIACL under which Rs 50. Availability of holiday homes in India which you can avail. The society also gives a lot of benefits like free insurance cover, retirement and death benefits, some cash prizes for employees’ children scoring well in exams, one-time reimbursement of train fare, etc.
There are few guesthouses owned by New India which can also be availed based on the availability.
LTS benefits once in 2 years.
Small allowances like briefcase allowance, halting allowances, travel allowances, etc.
Mediclaim benefit where you and your family members can be covered. 25% premium is borne by you (deducted every month from your salary) and 75% is borne by the company. This is a very good feature which NIACL gives to all its employees. Also, there is a default PA cover of 40 lakhs.
Lease reimbursement facility which depends from place to place. At present, it’s 30k in Mumbai, 20k in Tier-1 cities, and so on.
Domiciliary medical allowance of Rs 13,300 every year for OPD expenses.
Newspaper allowance 200 per month.
The maid allowance of Rs 1,000 has recently been approved by GIPSA which is yet to start by NIACL.
Miscellaneous allowances like hill station allowance, kit allowance, difficult area allowance, Paradip port allowance, telephone reimbursement if you are working as an accountant of your office, TA/DA, and hotel charges when you are on a company tour, etc.
Leave encashment, once in 2 years and max of 15 days encashment allowed.
Transfer benefits if you are transferred to another city.
Loan facility at low-interest rates for a two-wheeler, 4 wheeler, and home loan.
Group Term Insurance of Rs 10 lakhs sum assured. Premium is 285+gst which is deducted every month from your salary slip.
Festival advance of max Rs 30,000 (interest-free)

How should I prepare for the NIACL AO interview?

The interview in NIACL is pretty basic and easy. You should focus on three major aspects:
You, your family, school and college life, etc.
Your knowledge of current affairs and General Knowledge.
Basic Insurance awareness – Read the Principles of Insurance book (IC 01), it’s available on the website www.insuranceinstituteofindia.com. Basic knowledge and awareness of the Insurance industry are tested.
