NABARD Gr A: 5 Important Quant Topics

NABARD Grade A 2021 Exam: The quantitative section does not have the same weightage as other banking exams. There will be 20 questions for 20 marks in phase 1 of NABARD Grade A. Nonetheless, it’s still imperative to get quant questions right as it will affect your overall journey as we advance in these exams. What are these five essential quant topics?

Note: Data Interpretation is obviously included here. It hasn’t been mentioned separately because these five topics will indirectly cover DI.   

What’s the safe bet to secure qualifying marks?

Ideally, we don’t know what should be the ideal score for the quants section. However, getting 8-10 questions is being considered a safe bet. In order to get 8-10 questions correct, you will have to cover the five mentioned quant topics with utmost sincerity.

Simplification Tips and Tricks

  • Learn to make tables by yourself – For example – make the table of 87 using speed math tricks. This way you will not have to mug up the tables.
  • Sum, sub, multiply, divide
  • Square values till 25, Cube values till at least 20, Square roots, Cube root
  • Basic fractions
  • Basic percentage and ratio

Number Series Tips & Tricks

A question of number/wrong terms series  

Direction: Find the wrong term in the given series: 800, 678, 579, 497, 434, 385, 349

Things to learn: 

  • Logics – Notice the pattern of the series. If it’s based on addition, subtraction, cubes, square, etc.
  • Sequence to implement these logics – Follow a step-based protocol for recognizing the sequence.

Step-based protocol for sequences (Missing terms) 

  1. Check if the sequence is based on square, cube, square +, sqaure -, cube +, cube –
  1. Check if the sequence is based on Multiplication +-, Division +-
  1. Look for double/triple series is being used
  1. Look for illogical series is given (rarely given)

Now look for logics as well during these steps. However, for wrong term series you can directly just follow the steps.  

Percentage tips & tricks

  • Learn about conversion of fraction into percentage
  • Learn about conversion of percentage into fraction
  • Focus on conceptual building as percentage can help you in solving a lot of quant questions apart from this very topic.

Ratio tips & tricks

Ratios are all about learning about basic formations. There are many basic rules you can learn such as – if we multiply or divide the ratio by same number it doesn’t change, if we add the same number in the ratio it will change, etc.
