IDBI Executive Exam 2021: The IDBI executive often stirs up controversy regarding the authenticity of the job opportunity. That it’s a contractual job and not a permanent one. So, let’s dig a little deeper to conclude the truth.
Well, every job comes up with both advantages and disadvantages. But the way many people look at IDBI Executive is not fair. They have a preconceived notion of the contractual job being a risky one. Many even bring the dispute of a government vs private job. In all honesty, you will have to look at it from a much more comprehensive perspective in order to make the right choice. So, let’s weigh both the pros and cons of the IDBI Executive job.
No. | Name of Tests | No. of Qs | Maximum Marks | Duration |
1 | Test of Reasoning | 50 | 50
2 | Test of Working English Language | 50 | 50 | Composite time of 90 minutes |
3 | Test of Quantitative Aptitude | 50 | 50
Total | 150 | 150 |
The exam pattern is exactly the same for SBI Clerk Prelims, SBI PO prelims, and IBPS PO as well. That’s good news because a familiar exam pattern eases off the pressure of specific preparation. The only real challenge would be to prepare for the English Language section but if you have been preparing for SBI Clerk mains or PO then you don’t have much to worry about.
The only disadvantage would be the total time given and the number of questions asked. Moreover, the average time given per question is the same. So, from the exam pattern’s perspective, there is hardly anything to be worried about.

It’s almost the same. Hardly any new topics can surprise any banking aspirant. It wins the argument here as well.
You will be eligible for an assistant manager job position in 3 years if you crack this exam. And remember neither did you appear for an interview or mains. If you are somebody who is in the age group of 21-25 then IDBI Bank could be the best platform.
Yes, you could say that SBI PO’s probationary period is of 2 years. In that sense, SBI PO has leverage over IDBI Executive. But would it make sense for you to deny a shot at a similar opportunity that consists of an added year of the probationary period?
It’s a question you need to ask yourself.
If you clear both SBI PO and IDBI Executive then go to SBI if you want. But just in case if you only qualify for Executive then the 3-year period is the same as a 2-year period because you will have to fight for SBI PO once again.
So, is IDBI Executive worth it? Well, in such a competitive job market you should grab any opportunity which comes your way. You can always climb up the ladder with time. What’s the point in carrying a regret later!? If you will find yourself in a situation where years have passed by and you still don’t have a job would be regretful. Chasing a dream job is fine but you can always chase it with a job in hand which gives you and your family financial security.
