There are tens of lakhs of banking aspirants in our country who prepare for prestigious jobs like IBPS RRB PO (also known as Officer Scale I) and IBPS RRB Clerk (also known as Office Assistant). But not all banking aspirants are able to clear these banking exams. These banking exams have been formulated in such a way that they appear difficult but they are not that difficult to clear provided you have a clear strategy in your mind. Remember: normally every year the number of vacancies show an increasing trend, but the number of aspirants increases manifold times. And this is the reason why every year the rate of failure increases.
It’s not just the Prelims and Mains exams where aspirants face failure. Sometimes they clear the Mains exam and reach the interview round of IBPS RRB PO. But in the interview round it is found that their communication skills are not up to the mark. So even though they have prepared well and have cleared Prelims and Mains exams, they get disqualified in the interview round. This is the reason why we have recommended in the upper paragraph to have a clear strategy in your mind.
Before answering the question ‘Is IBPS RRB Exam Easy’, we are listing down the mistakes banking aspirants make. If you avoid these mistakes backed by solid preparation, your success rate will be definitely better and you will be able to clear the exam.

Some banking aspirants don’t take the exam preparation seriously and while preparing for the IBPS RRB exam, they don’t even have a glance at the previous year papers. Obviously, questions from the previous year paper won’t be repeated but by referring to the previous year papers, at least you get to know what kinds of questions were asked in the past. In fact, you can try to answer the questions with the time limits and match your score with the cut-offs of that particular year. Also, knowing previous year cut-offs is very important to banking aspirants. It gives them an overall idea of what their target score should be.
As already mentioned, the competition for banking jobs is very intense. Some candidates don’t take the fact seriously that for the IBPS RRB exam, their competition is with lakhs of competitors. In this regard, the importance of mock tests comes into the picture. Mock tests provide you with your All India Rank and percentile which tells you your relative position vis-a-vis other aspirants. So don’t make this mistake and prepare accordingly.
Some banking aspirants who are from rural background don’t have the experience of taking the exam in an online environment. This problem can easily be solved by taking mock tests beforehand and do as many experiments in the mock test as possible like switching the sections, mark a question for review and solve it later etc. This will save time in the actual exam and you will feel confident while taking the IBPS RRB exam.
Knowing whether the negative marking is there and if yes, how much is the negative marking for each incorrectly answered question, is very important. Some banking aspirants are not aware of this and they answer all the questions of a section which results in poor marks. It’s always better to skip a question than guessing it blindly.
Practice before appearing for the actual IBPS RRB exam is very important. Don’t make the mistake of skipping this practice. All the sections need to be practised and revised on a continuous basis. For practice, keep taking Mock Tests.
Sometimes banking aspirants are unable to deal with the exam anxiety in the actual exam. Since they have to answer a limited number of questions in relatively less time, they become anxious and unknowingly start answering some questions incorrectly. To cope with the exam anxiety, take a lot of mock tests before the exam.
Speed and accuracy don’t always go hand in hand. If your speed is good, ensure that you have a good command over your accuracy as well. When reviewing mock tests, ensure that you check the questions in detail which you have answered incorrectly. Practising via Mock tests will give you a good balance of speed and accuracy.
There are plenty of tricks & shortcuts available in videos online. However, some banking aspirants don’t care to understand the logic behind these shortcuts and start applying them invariably and start ending up with wrong answers. Please be informed that all such shortcuts are based on some given conditions and if there is a slight change in the given conditions in your question, it may end you up with incorrect answers. So understand a shortcut properly before putting it to use.
You should never make the mistake of solving a difficult question first. Always take the simple & easy questions (like number series, synonyms-antonyms, alphanumeric series etc.) first and solve them. This way you will secure their marks. Then you can move to questions with a moderate level of difficulty and in the end, you can deal with the difficult questions. This strategy will ensure that you optimize your performance and get maximum marks in the exam.
So coming back to answer the question, Is IBPS RRB Exam Easy?, we can clearly say that if you avoid all the above common mistakes, have a good conceptual understanding of all the topics and solve & review mock tests on a regular basis, IBPS RRB exam will be easy for you.
