Not Coping with the Competition

As already mentioned, the competition for banking jobs is very intense. Some candidates don’t take the fact seriously that for the IBPS RRB exam, their competition is with lakhs of competitors. In this regard, the importance of mock tests comes into the picture. Mock tests provide you with your All India Rank and percentile which tells you your relative position vis-a-vis other aspirants. So don’t make this mistake and prepare accordingly.

Unfamiliarity with the Computer

Some banking aspirants who are from rural background don’t have the experience of taking the exam in an online environment. This problem can easily be solved by taking mock tests beforehand and do as many experiments in the mock test as possible like switching the sections, mark a question for review and solve it later etc. This will save time in the actual exam and you will feel confident while taking the IBPS RRB exam.

Guessing the Option

Knowing whether the negative marking is there and if yes, how much is the negative marking for each incorrectly answered question, is very important. Some banking aspirants are not aware of this and they answer all the questions of a section which results in poor marks. It’s always better to skip a question than guessing it blindly.

Inadequate Practice

Practice before appearing for the actual IBPS RRB exam is very important. Don’t make the mistake of skipping this practice. All the sections need to be practised and revised on a continuous basis. For practice, keep taking Mock Tests.

Unable to deal with Exam Anxiety

Sometimes banking aspirants are unable to deal with the exam anxiety in the actual exam. Since they have to answer a limited number of questions in relatively less time, they become anxious and unknowingly start answering some questions incorrectly. To cope with the exam anxiety, take a lot of mock tests before the exam.

Speeding Up on the cost of Accuracy

Speed and accuracy don’t always go hand in hand. If your speed is good, ensure that you have a good command over your accuracy as well. When reviewing mock tests, ensure that you check the questions in detail which you have answered incorrectly. Practising via Mock tests will give you a good balance of speed and accuracy.

Wrong Usage of Tricks & Shortcuts

There are plenty of tricks & shortcuts available in videos online. However, some banking aspirants don’t care to understand the logic behind these shortcuts and start applying them invariably and start ending up with wrong answers. Please be informed that all such shortcuts are based on some given conditions and if there is a slight change in the given conditions in your question, it may end you up with incorrect answers. So understand a shortcut properly before putting it to use.

Attempting Difficult Questions First

You should never make the mistake of solving a difficult question first. Always take the simple & easy questions (like number series, synonyms-antonyms, alphanumeric series etc.) first and solve them. This way you will secure their marks. Then you can move to questions with a moderate level of difficulty and in the end, you can deal with the difficult questions. This strategy will ensure that you optimize your performance and get maximum marks in the exam.
