IDBI JAM/ ESO is just 20+ days away. Have you started its preparation? If not, we suggest you to get started by taking a free mock test. And in this article, we are going to guide you on how to start your preparation for the reasoning section. Please bear in mind that there are only 2,100 coveted vacancies for this post and you need to start your preparation as early as possible. To give you an overview of the Reasoning section, there will be 60 questions of 60 marks for which you will be given a time of 120 minutes (these 120 minutes include the time for all the sections). Since sectional timing is not in place, you can switch between different sections. So you get very less time for each question. Questions may carry 1 mark each.
S.No | Name of the Test | No. of Questions | Maximum Marks | Duration |
1 | Logical Reasoning, Data Analysis & Interpretation | 60 | 60 | Composite time of 2 hours |
2 | English Language | 40 | 40
3 | Quantitative Aptitude | 40 | 40
4 | General/Economy/Banking Awareness/ Computer/IT | 60 | 60 |
Note:
The Reasoning section tests your judgement skills, the sharpness of mind and logical thought process. You need to improve all of these attributes of yourself to make a mark in this section. When preparing for this section, you need to consistently focus on increasing your speed while keeping a check on your accuracy. Needless to mention that you have to be thorough with the syllabus and all the topics therein. Make sure that you cover all the topics (at least 90% of the topics).
Take a topic at one time say, Blood Relationship. Understand its concept and solve 50 questions of different difficulty levels. Please note that there shouldn’t be any time restriction at this point in time. Try to develop an alternate way of solving the question. When you do this you get closer to developing your own shortcuts. And since you know the concept behind the shortcut, you are in the best position to know when & where to use this shortcut. For eg., you can develop your own codes & symbols (and the way of drawing the diagram) for solving blood relationship questions. Also, the fact that you can check what suits you: solving a blood relationship question by backtracking it or by simply reading it out.
Do this exercise for all the topics in this section. Once you are done solving 50 questions from each section, you would have gained mastery in all of these concepts. Also, the fact that you would have got a decent idea to assess the questions based on its different levels of difficulty. Once you have acquired this skill (which comes by practising more & more questions), it will help you considerably in the actual exam where you can quickly pick/skip a question and save precious time.
Now it’s high time to start solving Sectional/ Mock Tests within the time limits. This will test your skills in a controlled environment. Refrain from using any study material while solving these tests and use your alternative methods and shortcuts over here. Check the analysis provided once you are done with the tests. Work on your weak areas and your performance will most likely improve. Mock Tests also provide you with your country-wide rank so that you know how much more effort you need to put to be in the top slot.
This is all we have in this article. We hope that this would help you in starting & improving your preparation for the Reasoning section. You might want to take a Free Mock Test of IDBI JAM/ ESO now itself so that you can analyze your current preparation level and how much do you need to improve on it.
