Selection Process-IBPS PO 2021
You will be appointed an IBPS PO after clearing the three stages of the IBPS PO Exam 2021. These three stages are:
- Prelims Exam
- Mains Exam
- Interview
Cut-off
To clear the IBPS PO exam 2021, you will have to score well enough to clear the sectional cut-off as well as an overall cut-off. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS, while the Mains exam needs the minimum cut-off marks to reach the interview round. The interview round, which holds 100 Marks, will be conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT.
Exam Pattern-IBPS PO 2021
The IBPS PO Prelims exam tests a candidate with 100 questions of Objective type (MCQ). In the second stage, you will have to face Objective questions (MCQ) of 200 + 25 marls of Objective (MCQ) nature, except for the English Descriptive Paper. The last stage, the interview, will test you with Verbal questions of 100 Marks.
IBPS PO Prelims-Exam Pattern
The prelims exam of IBPS PO consists of a total of 100 questions with a time duration of 60 minutes.
- Question type remains Multiple Choice questions.
- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks in the exam for each wrong answer.
- This round of IBPS PO exam is only qualifying in nature.

Note: As per the official IBPS website, Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. An adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.
IBPS PO Mains-Exam Pattern
IBPS PO Mains exam also entertains Multiple Choice type questions with a slightly higher difficulty level. The Number of questions and the duration of the exam is higher as compared to the Prelims Exam. In addition, there is also a negative marking of 0.25 in the IBPS PO main exam for every incorrect answer you will give. Section-wise Tips & Strategy-IBPS PO Exam 2021-Prelims
Clearing the IBPS PO Exam requires a sufficient amount of time, energy, and a proper strategy. Here are some important tips that the toppers implement for clearing the previous exams:
1. Reasoning Section
The reasoning section comes with 35 questions and can harm your chances of clearing the Exam, as the sectional cut-off for this section is very low. But it can also prove to be an enormously scoring section if you have prepared it well.
Last year Exam saw questions on lengthy puzzles, having 3-5 questions for each puzzle. You should go prepared to face lengthy puzzles as such questions are likely to appear again in the Exam. You can solve them with a caring attitude. Plus, questions on syllogism are most likely to appear in the Exam.
2. English Language Section
The English section consists of 40 questions. To clear this section, you need to make reading a daily Habit, clear the basics of Grammar, work on enhancing your vocabulary, and practice various structures of sentences. The difficulty level of last year’s paper was medium, and this level is expected this year too. But you need to be ready to face tough questions and practice a lot to grab a good score in it.
3. Quantitative Aptitude Section
This section invites 35 questions. To clear this section, you must master the percentage-fraction conversion to save a lot of time during the Exam. Practice questions on Data Interpretation, approximation, and simplification. If you can master focusing on calculations while attempting questions, you’d easily answer this section in the Exam time.
4. Review Previous Year Question Papers
Do review and practice from previous year’s question papers. By practicing with the previous year’s question papers, you will get the exact idea about the upcoming examination.
