IBPS Eligibility Criteria 2021: IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has set some mandatory conditions for the candidates who wish to apply for the IBPS PO recruitment exam. It includes:

  • Educational qualification
  • Age limit
  • Nationality
  • Additional criteria

As per the official IBPS website, those aspirants who will meet the requisites set up by it will be eligible to apply for the IBPS PO vacancies. IBPS releases the official notification of IBPS PO on its official website. Eligibility criteria, number of vacancies, IBPS selection process, exam pattern, and other details are mentioned in the notification.  Eligible candidates are invited to fill the IBPS PO application form on or before the last date.

IBPS PO 2021: Age Limit

As per the IBPS, a candidate should have a minimum age of 20 years and maximum age of 30 years respectively. But there is age relaxation for candidates belonging to reservation categories. For example, as of August 1, 2019, a candidate must have been born not earlier than August 02, 1989, and not later than August 1, 1999 (both dates inclusive).

Important Points

  1. The relaxation in upper age limit to SC/ST/OBC candidates is allowed on cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above in the table, from Point No. 3 to 6.
  2. The maximum age limit specified is applicable to General Category candidates and Economically Weaker (EWS) Category Candidates.
  3. Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit necessary certificate(s) in original/ along with photocopies at the time of Interview and at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ Participating Organisation(s).
  4. In case of an Ex-servicemen who has once joined in a Govt. job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-servicemen for his re-employment, his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of reemployment in Government ceases. There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in Officers’ Cadre

IBPS PO 2021: Nationality

One of the major conditions to fulfill in order to be eligible for the IBPS PO Exam is the nationality of the aspirant. Therefore, he/she should be:

  1. A Citizen of India or
  2. A Subject of Nepal or
  3. A Subject of Bhutan or
  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  5. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

Note: Candidates who belong to categories (2), (3), (4), and (5) should produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India, whenever asked by the IBPS authorities. 

IBPS PO 2021: Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a graduation or equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized university. It is the minimum educational qualification required to apply for the IBPS PO vacancies.

Bear in mind the following points while applying for the IBPS PO exam 2021:

  • The candidate must have passed the qualifying exam by or before August 2021.
  • The date mentioned on the mark sheet/ scorecard will be considered as the date of passing the degree and the document proving the educational qualification requirement has to be submitted in interview round.
  • In case, candidate’s result is posted on the website of the University and the web-based certificate is issued, then a proper original certificate (signed by the appropriate authority of the University) indicating the date of passing the degree will be reckoned at the time of verification.
  • Candidates have to specify the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals in the online application.
  • Candidates who are awarded CGPA / OGPA have to convert the same into percentage and mention it in the online application.
  • Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semesters/years By aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects multiplied by 100.
  • It will be applicable for those Universities as well where Class/ Grade is decided based on Honours marks only.
  • The fraction of percentage arrived will be ignored i.e., 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

IBPS PO Reservation Policy

IBPS PO 2021: Reservation Policy 

Candidates belonging to the reservation categories must have a look at the following reservation policy o be followed by the IBPS for the IBPS PO recruitment process:

EWS Category

Applicants who do not belong to the categories; Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, and additionally, whose family has gross annual income less than INR 8 lakhs (rupees eight lakh only) are considered as candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). These candidates can get the benefit of 10% reservation in the IBPS vacancies.

The IBPS PO applicants must keep the below-mentioned points in mind while considering themselves under the EWS category:

  • The annual income will include revenue from all sources such as salary, agriculture, business, a specific profession, etc. which the family has generated in the previous financial year. Besides, the candidate whose family possess any of the following assets will also not be considered as EWSs (irrespective of their family income):
    • 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above
    • Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
    • Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities
    • Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities
  • The property owned by a “Family” in different locations would be clubbed while applying the property holding test to determine EWS status.
  • The term “Family” will include the person who seeks the benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years, and also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.
  • An Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority in the prescribed format will have to be produced to avail the benefit of EWS reservation at the time of document verification and interview round of IBPS PO Selection Process.

PwD Category

Under section 34 of “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”, persons with benchmark disabilities are eligible for Reservation as per the government of India norms. The following categories of disabilities can avail reservation under this Act:

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy
  • autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, and mental illness;
  • multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disability

Vacancies reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities will be allocated as prescribed in the “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” and as per vacancies reported to IBPS by Participating banks.

Guidelines for PwD using a Scribe

Candidates with minimum benchmark disability whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason can use their scribe at their cost during IBPS PO 2021 Exam. The following rules will apply to use a scribe:

  • Candidates will have to arrange their scribe at their own cost.
  • The scribe may be from any educational background.
  • The candidate, as well as the scribe, will have to submit a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe mentioned above. If at any stage of the exam, it is found out that the scribe did not fulfil any laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts then the candidature of the applicant will be cancelled, irrespective of the result of the CRP.
  • Candidates using a scribe will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes or otherwise advised for every hour of the examination.
  • The scribe arranged by the candidate should not be a candidate for the online examination under (CRP-PO/MT-IX).
  • If a violation of the above is detected at any stage of the process, the candidature for CRP of both the candidate and the scribe will be cancelled.
  • Candidates eligible for and who wish to use the services of a scribe in the examination have to apply for the same in the IBPS PO Application Form.
  • Any subsequent request will not be entertained.
  • Only candidates registered for compensatory time will be allowed such concessions since compensatory time given to candidates shall be system based, it will not be possible for the test conducting agency to allow such time if they are not registered for the same. Check Category-wise Cutoff

Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy Candidates

Candidates with a minimum of 40% Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function will be permitted a compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour or otherwise advised.

Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates

Candidates who are Visually Impaired suffering from not less than 40% of disability may opt to view the contents of the test (question paper) in magnified font and all such candidates will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour or otherwise advised of examination. The facility of viewing the contents of the test in magnifying font will only be available to Visually Impaired candidates who will not use the services of a Scribe for the examination.

Guidelines for Intellectually Disabled Candidates

Candidates with more than 40% Intellectual Disability, Autism, Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness will be provided a compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour of examination, irrespective of availing the services of a scribe.

  • Since the IBPS PO application process is online, hence, the aspirants are advised to upload scanned copies of the supporting required documents.

Q. Is it compulsory to attend Pre-Exam Training and is it available to everyone?

A. No it is not compulsory, and it is available only for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Minorities.

Q. Will the candidate have to pay anything extra for the Pre-Exam Training?

Q. I want to change the time and venue of my pre-exam training, can I do that?

A. No, there is no option of changing the time and venue for training.

Q. Will the expenses for traveling and lodging will also be borne by IBPS?

A. No, only the coaching is free. Other expenses like boarding, traveling, lodging, etc. have to be borne by the candidate.

Q. Will I get the option to select the center for pre-exam training?

A. Yes, you will be given the option to select.

Q. Can I get the training online?

A. No, the training will be given in physical centers in the cities mentioned earlier. You will not get the training online.

Q. Will the Pre-Exam Training be beneficial for me?

A. Candidates will be taught about the important topics, techniques to handle questions, and exam pattern. The benefit of it will depend upon how one utilizes the training period.

Q. I forgot my password, how can I download the call letter?

A. Your password is sent to your registered mobile number and email ID, you can refer to these for your password. However, there is an option for resetting a password as well.

Q. The center allocated to me does not match with what I filled in the form, why is it so?

A. IBPS tries to give candidates the center preferred by them, but there is no guarantee that the same center will be allotted.

Q. Will IBPS send me a hard copy of the call letter?

A. No, a hard copy through the post will not be sent. You will need to download and print the call letter and carry it.

Q. I did not apply for the pre-exam training in my form, is there any way to apply for it in the later stages?

A. No, to apply for pre-exam training for IBPS PO, the only way is to mention it in the application form.
