IBPS Clerk 2023 Preparation-8 Mistakes to Avoid

One of the common mistakes is not understanding the exam pattern. The solution is to understand the exam pattern and syllabus thoroughly. Another mistake is not giving enough time for practice. The answer is to practice regularly and solve the previous years’ papers. Not managing time effectively is another mistake. The solution is to make a study plan and stick to it. Finally, not focusing on accuracy is another mistake. The key is to focus on accuracy while solving questions.

Here are some of the common mistakes to avoid during IBPS Clerk preparation:

1. Planning But Not Executing Well

Many candidates make a timetable for their preparation but do not follow it. It has been observed that the majority of candidates follow their timetable for maybe a month but then begin skipping the scheduled timetable.

2. Not Focusing on Specific Strategy

Most students prepare for more than one banking examination and fail to focus their minds on a specified task. This is a big flaw. If you are preparing for IBPS Clerk, make a proper strategy after going through the syllabus, previous year’s paper, and exam pattern.

3. Practicing chapter-wise

This is a great myth surrounding banking as well as other competitive exams that makes a candidate go step by step on every topic. Unless you are a beginner, do not waste so much time solving a single chapter or topic, especially in maths. Try to solve the mix-bag of topics/chapters as it will decrease the intensity of missing out on any important topics for the examination.

4. Leaving comprehension

The comprehension section is the easiest topic if prepared well. The comprehension section is the easiest topic if prepared well. If you take reading comprehension as a burden, you should reconsider this topic. This section can provide 5-10 marks and leaving such a scoring topic can make you out of the success list. Solve a few reading comprehension every week to ace this section and also go through the previous year’s comprehension questions that will make you an expert in answering comprehension questions.

5. Wrong Preparation for the English Section

The English section demands smart work instead of hard work. Aspirants generally think of mugging up all the grammar rules in lieu of getting a good score but fail. Mugging up or going through basic books for grammar is not going to serve your purpose. The student needs to have a mindset of practicing more rather than mugging up the rules. The time will come when the English section will look accessible to you. You can give as many mock tests as you can to understand the concept.

6. Separate Preparation for Prelims & Mains

Prepare for IBPS Clerk mains and prelims together as most of the topics asked in prelims are also asked in mains examination.

7. Focus Less on GA

General awareness is not a part of the IBPS Clerk prelims exam but it forms an important section in mains examination. Reading general awareness from newspapers or daily/weekly/monthly magazines can help you keep yourself up to date.
