Air Force Conducts A Common Admission Test (AFCAT) twice a year, that is, in February and August to recruit Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-technical) branches. This year the exam will be held on 25, 26 and 27 August. That means the candidates have 20 odd days for preparation. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age
For Flying Branch for AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: 20-24 years as on 01 July 2024 i.e. born between 02 July 2000 to 01 July 2004 (both dates inclusive).
Ground Duty (Technical & Non-technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2024 i.e. born between 02 July 1998 to 01 July 2004 (both dates inclusive).
Marital Status
Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course and marriage is not permitted during training.

Questions are matriculation level. NCERT 10th standard books are considered great for the preparation of the AFCAT 2023 Exam.

- Each question carries 3 marks.
- One mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

How to Prepare for the AFCAT?
- First and foremost, go through the syllabus and try your hands at the previous year’s questions. You will get a good idea of which topic needs how much time.
- Plot a workable study plan and stick to it.
- Use NCERT 9th & 10th standard books for your preparation.
- Get in touch with peers and study groups. It will help you understand what books and resources you need for preparation.
- Ask questions from your mentors for any doubts. Get your fundamentals clear.
- Read newspapers daily and note down important events. Alternatively, you can read weekly and monthly current affairs notes which saves a lot of time.
- Set apart time for intensive mock tests every day.
- Start with Topic Tests. Find a topic you have studied. Do a revision then find a peaceful corner where you can take the mock test.
- Take the mock test. Analyze your performance, and what you need to work on, and then tweak your study plan according to your analysis. Repeat it every day.
- Take one AFCAT Mock Test every day.
Mock tests are simulations of a real exam. They are excellent in building exam confidence and exam stamina in the candidate. A considerable improvement in the performance has been noticed in the candidates after a week’s mock test practice. So, don’t skip them.
